Mr. Dodson, Dianne, Maria, Dickie, Bryan, Nick and Jonna-
Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss of Anita. Anita and I met at Common Grounds Cafe in Branford on February 20, 1996. We learned we shared much common ground, including a love of Narragansett, golden retrievers and nature, and became great friends.
Over the years we shared many "excellent adventures" as we called them. We took bike trips throughout CT and RI and to Martha's Vineyard, Shelter Island and the Hamptons. There were golf trips to Sedona, AZ and Palm Springs, CA. On one infamous trip to VT, Anita proudly earned her ski pin at Bromley Mountain.
Anita inspired and empowered me to live a more active, adventurous and rewarding life. I have so many treasured memories of the times we spent together and most especially of her warm, caring and nurturing nature. I'll never forget how on a hike in Joshua Tree National Park a cholla cactus became embedded in my ankle. Without hesitating, Anita gently removed it with her bare hands. That is who and how Anita was.
One year at Christmas Anita gave me a beautiful gold rope chain necklace. I have worn it every day since and will continue to do so to honor her heart of gold.
I will miss her more than words can say.
