AVERILL, HAROLD C., 87, a lifelong Greenville resident, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Barbara I. (Labadie) Averill. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Harold C. and Rose (Vasconcellos) Averill. Mr. Averill was a budget analyst for the U.S. Government at Quonset Point and Davisville for 37 years before retiring. He was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a baseball coach for Smithfield little league, a member of the VFW and a graduate of LaSalle Academy and URI. Besides his wife, he was the father of Michael D. Averill, Steven J. Averill and his wife, Carole "Molly" and the late Cathy A. Averill. He is also survived by his twin brother, Frank Averill; his grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle Averill; step-granddaughter, Tricia Akers and 2 step- great- grandchildren. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Ave., Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Monday 5-8pm. Barbara, Michael, and Steven I was saddened to hear of your loss. When Tom Brokaw write the greatest generation, He was certainly thinking of Hal. We have lost another hero. My prayers are with you.
