CALANDRA, MARY (VARANESE)
104, formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. She was the wife of the late Edmond Calandra and daughter of the late Domenico and Angelina (DeMarco) Varanese. She was the loving and cherished mother of Carole Ferreira (Roger), of Riverside, RI, June Sousa (John), of Swansea, MA, with whom she resided, and Leslie Minkin (Len), and Edmond Calandra of Seekonk, MA. She was also the grandmother of six, great-grandmother of six, and great great-grandmother of two.
A kind, gentle person, Mary was born and raised in Fall River, MA, and lived in Bristol following her marriage. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, and the annual Mt. Carmel Feast Committee.
She was the sister of Anne Kirkpatrick and William Varanese and the late John, Louis, Frank, Pasquale, and Antonio Varanese, Christina Conforti, and Rose Gardner.
Her funeral will be held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
