My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of my cousin Ray Easterling.Although we had not seen each other in years, I always remember him as a great and dedicated athelete.I will always remember summer visits at our Grandmothers in Wise, Va.Throwing apples at passing cars got us quite a scolding!

To The Esaterling Family,

I am truly sorry for your loss. Ray was a great friend and team mate. We had some fun times with two a days at UR as roomates. They kept us town kids together.

He's in a better place with the Lord.

I had the fortune to spend some time with Ray on several different occasions - high school track, a couple of touch football games, financial services industry and family events. He was always passionate in whatever he did. Even the stories Ray told me about the mischievous pranks he played on my wife when he visited southwestern Virginia or when she lived at his parent's house – the stories always ended with Ray making me laugh.

My wife and I will miss Ray. Your family, brothers and their loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers.

I remember dancing to "Stagger Lee" with Ray when we were in the 4th grade--he twirled me and let go--I landed in a group of folding chairs. I also remember that in that same grade he took a bit of delight in telling me that there was no Santa Claus. These are fond memories of a childhood classmate. I am very sorry he has passed away.
