My true friend
June 12, 2012
To the family of Raymond Dobratz,My son,Michael Foster, just received the Raymond Dobratz scholarship at Old Saybrook High School. I am so thankful for this gift that he has received in your loved one's name. It is especially meaningful to our family because Mr Dobratz was a Union man...just like my father..Michael's grandfather. I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss of the other men who died that awful day. Just know that Michael greatly appreciates this and promises to put it to good use at Porter and Chester this July. God bless you all,Karen Foster

Well, it has been just over 4 months since you left us....Seems so odd not seeing you around..Life sure seems unfair to have a family that loses it's men so early in life..Your dad Ray Sr. at 38 my dad Gary at 48 and you at 58. Wish I had taken the time to thank you when you were here, but I will always be grateful for the way you took me under your wings after my father died and had me follow in both of your footsteps.. My dad taught me the trade that I love to this day and the day you brought me into Local 777 where I could make the most of what I had learned. Because of the two most influencial men in my life I am what I am today.Endless articles I have read about you in the past few months have motivated me to take my first Head Coaching job this year with Maddie's softball team and to volunteer with Parks and Rec.
I will forever miss and adore the greatest uncle to walk the face of the earth.

Mrs. Dobratz, Please give me a call one of these days so we can talk a little bit more that we have been able. I think of you often. Love, from our family to yours.
