Gilberto Ortiz-Torres, 65, of Reading, died July 29, 2015 at 10:45 p.m. in the emergency room at Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Maria P. Ortiz.
Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Radame Ortiz and Lydia Torres.
He worked at Exide Battery for 40 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Peter's R.C. Church, Reading.
Gilberto was a Reading High School graduate and enjoyed singing, going to the junkyard, fixing cars and softball. Always the happy man, he was never down and was extremely hard working. He loved parandas navidenas.
In addition to his wife, Maria, he is survived by his 9 children: Edwin "Rocky" Ortiz, Richard Noel Ortiz, Yenesta Ortiz, Jonel Ortiz, Gilberto Ortiz Jr., Daniel Ortiz, Elizabeth Ortiz, Brenda Ortiz and Manuelda Ortiz. There are also 23 grandchildren and 11 siblings.
Viewing from Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., One East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 3:00–6:00 p.m.
Graveside service on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 2:30 p.m., in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven, CT.
