Terrence J. Shannon, 59, of Spring Twp. passed away February 12, 2014 in his residence.
He was the spouse of James A. Dreibelbis.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Bernard H. Shannon and Arlene A. (Moyer) Shannon of Alsace Twp.
Terry graduated from Oley High School in 1972 and also Penn State University in 1974 with a business degree. He then went on to graduate in 1975 from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, New York City, NY. He served as an apprentice with Robert E. Bean in 1976 and received his Pennsylvania Funeral Director's license in 1977. He was employed at Bean Funeral Homes for 41 years, where he was a funeral director and also supervisor of the Sinking Spring location, retiring in December 2013.
His memberships included Travelers Protective Association of America and Washington Camp #68, Patriotic Order Sons of America and past president of the Lions Club of Reading.
Surviving in addition to his spouse, James, are his mother Arlene A. Shannon, Alsace Twp., sister, Patricia A. Shannon, Alsace Twp.; brother, Patrick H. Shannon, husband of Michelle Shannon, Laureldale; brother, Jeffrey M. Shannon, Reading and his loyal Yorkie companion Bentley.
Some of the many things Terry enjoyed were times spent in Rehoboth, DE, boating on the bay and especially traveling all over the world.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Terry's memory to Animal Rescue League: P.O. Box 69, Mohnton, PA 19540.
A Celebration of Life service will be Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Bean Funeral Homes, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, certified celebrant Marie L. Sipler officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery.

Terry was my preceptor in 1993 when I was an intern at Bean Funeral Home. I learned an incredible amount about funeral service from Terry and it is a loss to the families in Berks County that he is no longer serving them. Many blessings to Jamie and all of Terry's family.

Mr. Shannon was very kind to my family and me when my dad and husband passed away. years later when I saw him he remembered me and assisted me.

Jamie I will always remember working with Terry and how kind he was to invite me to the shore and help me with items for my first home i bought. Im lucky to have known him and will remember his kind actions all my life.
