Lily Boot was a neighbor and a very special friend for many years. My new home had a yard in much need of serious attention. I said, someday I will make it nice for my neighbor Lily as her yard was always so beautifully cared for with Roses and flowers of every variety. She was a true inspiration and with limited funds carried herself like a queen. Everything in her home reflected Taste and Quality. It's not where we live, it's how we live, she always lived and surrounded herself with the things in life that gave her the greatest Joys. We shopped, had Chardonnay at five and talked about everything. She loved Lake County and she left me with great memories to reflect on. We miss you Lily. May God be with You always. My condolences to her family on the passing of a delightful lady. I met Lili when I lived across the street from her in Lucerne, and we've been good friends ever since. I so enjoyed sipping wine or champagne with her and nibbling on amaretto cake in her perfectly kept home surrounded by china and other pretty objects. She had a nimble wit, a warm European charm, and a keen interest in everything.
Lili tended her plants and the animals outside and kept her collections neatly dusted and arranged all the way through her 80s. Light opera played in the background while she did her chores. She almost never went to the doctor, but she was in better health than most her age. She loved beautiful things and had a sharp eye for quality. As a senior on a budget, she often shopped at the thrift shops in town, dressed up in smart outfits with elegant earrings or brooches. She spotted the nicest things there quickly and made a beeline for them. Lili was friendly and outgoing and quick with languagesshe would launch into Spanish if she came across someone from Mexico or another country whose language she knew.
I miss Lili, but I feel that she had a very good life and lived it the way she wanted to until the end, with the help of her dear relatives and friends. A bientot, chere Lili.
