FREDERICK "MONTY" MONTELL CARMONA
1949 - 2014
Monty passed away comfortably surrounded by family at his residence on June 21st at the age of 64. He was born to Warren and Dorothy Carmona in Redding on October 25, 1949.
Monty was a graduate and class president of Shasta High School in 1967.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1981.
Monty is survived by his devoted wife, Cappi, of 26 years.
Monty is lovingly remembered by his children Kristen Lucas-Aitchison, Chris & Stephanie Carmona, and Monica & John Cabral. Grandchildren Kassidy Honea, Chace Aitchison, Colton Carmona, Mollie White, Dylan Cabral, Wyatt Aitchison, Kaitlyn Cabral, and Cayson Carmona. His brothers and sister-in-laws Larry & Sue Carmona of Orland, Rick & Sallie Carmona of Redding, and Ann & Steve Mitchell of Central Point, OR.
Monty worked in the appliance industry nearly his entire life. He served in the United States Army and California National Guard for 27 years retiring as a Command Sergeant Major (E9) in 1997.
He enjoyed golf, softball, racquetball, coaching, baseball, cooking, reunion committee activities, grandchildren's activities, traveling with friends, watching the Giants and Forty Niners, and helping others.
The memorial service will be held at the Elks Lodge in Redding on Saturday, June 28th at 11 a.m. The Elks is located at 250 Elk Drive, Redding. Please dress casually or in your favorite sports team attire (the pool will be open).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice 1544 Market Street, Redding, CA 96001 or donating to the Monty Carmona memorial bench to be placed on the Sacramento River Trail near his residence (checks payable to Monty Carmona 240 Mora Court, Redding, CA 96003).

Monty was one of the popular kids in high school who treated everyone the same, kindly. I'll always remember his honest eyes, and it's not surprising that he fought valiantly to the end. My sympathy to the family.

Probably one of the nicest people I remember from High School; he always had time to talk to "the little guy" Monty was several years older; I was the Class of '69). I met him through my sister and it seems Monty, Webb, Robison and Johnson all became my big brothers. As someone previously stated 'A real class act' as were all the Carmonas.I know he is already missed.... my best to the entire family in a hard time like this...

Monty was a very special person. He loved his family and would do anything to bring them happiness. He was a friend to everyone. His smile, humor, and hugs were always a given. With his loss, leaves a gap in so many hearts. We will miss him greatly......until we meet again.

What I remember about Monty was his infectious laugh, no matter whether I hadn't seen him in a while, if at a gathering and I heard that laugh I knew instantly who it was. He was a stand-up guy and he will be missed, my condolences to the Carmona Family

I can still see Monty as that cute guy at Magnolia School that all the girls liked. Saw him at an event with one of my daughters a few years ago and he was so welcoming and so sweet. Still one of the kids to me and will be always.

Monty was such a special person. I have such wonderful memories of grade school at Magnolia thru Shasta High with him. I moved away from Redding so I did not have much contact with Monty as an adult but did see him at the reunions and it was if I had never left. I am so sad to hear of his passing.

Thanks Mickey for letting me know. I am so sorry about Monty. I have such wonderful memories of snowball fights, forts, kick-the-can, and hide-and-go-seek on the "Hill". Monty was always nice to me even though I was just a "little girl" in his opinion. (He was all of two years older than me.)
I am sure God welcomed Monty home with a big smile and open arms.
