GREENSBORO - Alice Marie Williamson Grissom, 76, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
A private family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in Oxford, N.C.

In her late 30's and early 40's she enjoyed playing women's softball for Wheat Swamp Church. Also referred to as "Baby", she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, playing cards, being around the water, watching college basketball, reading and shopping at Walmart. She was a wonderful mother and friend, as well as a devoted and proud Grandmother.
Alice was preceded in death by the love of her life, William F. "Billy" Grissom, to whom she was married for 53 years; her parents, Don Swain Williamson and Marie Overton Williamson, of Aurora; and her brother Gene A. Williamson, also of Aurora.
Surviving are her beloved daughter, Johna G. Bowen and husband Ron of Greensboro; grandchildren Tory M. Bowen and Hunter W. Bowen, both of Durham; brother Buck Williamson and wife Lala, who was her best friend and daily phone pal, of Aurora; and four nephews and their families, all of eastern North Carolina.
