Not sure what to say?

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Joshua Nathanial Nelson US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

I remember watching you guys head out that afternoon on your last patrol. I remember that wake up call in the middle of the night. I remember when they brought you guys in off of the Stryker. I remember seeing your wife's picture in your shirt sleeve pocket. I remember wishing I could have saved any one of you 4. I remember praying for your family, who, at that moment did not know of your departure. I remember loading you guys on the Blackhawk. I remember your memorial service. I will never forget. RIP HERO.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Joshua will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SPC Joshua N. Nelson, U.S. Army. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Joshua. And to Joshua it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. Joshua you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. No greater love and patriotism are shown than when a man lays down his life in service to his country. Joshua, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Joshua's family and loved ones.

To the entire Nelson Family,
There are no words to say that can make this easier. The tears that fall are caught in the heart of God. You are facing a storm in your lives right now but know that God is with you during this storm. Josh will be truly missed by all that knew him and those that knew he fought for our Country. Truly his Hero has welcome him into His army and Josh now stands at attention with his Commander in Chief. Our prayers are with you and will continue to be with you long after this day is over. God's love and blessings to you always. "And this is His commandment... Love one another"

To The Nelson Family:
This is a difficult time that our families are going through, but God has reached down and picked another one of his beautiful flowers to add to his heavenly arrangements. Our hearts are broken but we are holding on to God's unchanging hands, because he has them wrapped all around us.Prayers and love is being expressed from every direction and I know we will get through this with the mighty help of God. Let's continue to love one another and keep each other lifted up in prayer.
Josh was a wonderful nephew and I am so glad that he bonded with Jacquan when they first met. Jacquan had the opportunity to chat with him on the day he passed away. He will cherish those last words shared for a lifetime.
