GALESBURG - Mrs. Dolores J. Starr, 89, Galesburg, died 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at her home.
She was born May 31, 1929, in Waukegan, to Donald and Hilda Murphy Tharp. She married Ronald B. Starr March 14, 1948, in Galesburg.
Surviving is her husband of 70 years; a son, Douglas (and Connie) Starr of Tremont,; two daughters, Rhonda (and Steven) Kistler of Galesburg and Sandra (and W. Scott) Smith of Galesburg; a daughter-in-law, Donna Starr of Bartonville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Duff Starr and Stephen Starr; a brother, Jack Tharp; a sister, Dorothy Tharp; and a grandson, Thomas Starr.
Dolores graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947. She attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg. She was a lead inspector at Maytag for 25 years and retired in 1990. She was a member of First Christian Church in Galesburg. Dolores was a member of Home Culture Club and the Piecemakers Quilt Guild.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to Piecemakers Quilt Guild.
