We regretted being on the road when we heard of Art's passing. Even though he has been retired for some years he will always represent what is best about Carl Sandburg College and the entire community college movement as well as the Galesburg community. We extend our deepest sympathy to Charlotte and family.

Art had a profound impact on my life when I attended Sandburg. He actually treated me with respect at a time when I didn't deserve it and really supported me. I owe a lot to a really good and decent man, and I am sure many others do as well. Rest in Peace, Art. My life is better for knowing you.
In the late 1970's Art was one of my first supervisors at Carl Sandburg College and was consistently respectful and helpful. After his retirement it was always a pleasure to see him when he visited our campus. He will be missed.
