Dear Janice, My family met the Heinz family when we moved to Creve Coeur in 1955. My father and I would stop for a nickel coke at the soda fountain when possible. We rarely got the larger size! I bought a 35mm Argus camera from Archie one day too. We stopped at the drug store on a Sunday in November and saw the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby on TV while we were in the pharmacy picking up a prescription. Remember you working behind the soda fountain when you were in high school and Jim working for his dad during high school and when home from college. I remember when you and Jim were married.
My parents moved from Creve Coeur in late '60's as I finished college. Heinz Drug Store was a very important place in our lives. In later years I even purchased a book about the history of Creve Coeur at the store.
Jim was a great guy and so is his entire family who left a wonderful legacy to the area. We are so sorry for your loss.

To Janice and Family, We are very sad about the passing of Jim. We have great memories of times that we spent with you and Jim.. Carol and Bill Akers.
We were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. (Such a good friend to the people of Creve Coeur)! Please know that you are ALL in our thoughts at this sad time. Don and Paulette Bockler
Our prayers are with you Janice & children. It's been a rough road but he is home, safe with The Lord.
Please accept the sympathy from the whole Saylor family. We are long time Creve Coeur residents. My sister used to work the soda fountain at the drug store. Those were the good days back when Heinz was in operation and Main St. was an actual town. Heinz Drugs and your family were a big part of our childhood. As we all have very fond memories of Jimmy and his family business I am sure of the many wonderful memories you have as a special family. Our thoughts and prayers with you during this most difficult time.
With my thoughts and prayers to you all!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janice and all the family.
Love and Blessings during this hard time. Stan and Eleanor Billheimer
Jim was best friends with Jan Blank. That's how I met Jim and Janice. The Heinz family were a delight to know. We also lived down the street on Morton St. And occasionally the girls would stop by at our house for a while. I know Jim had been suffering, and was blessed to have known him. My sympathy to the family. Carol Knobloch.
the lord has gained such a passionate, playful &loving spirit.love & peace always melanie dunn
As a kid, I lived every school day afternoon at Heinz Drug store with a hot dog and green river….wonderful memories of your dad!! He lived a good life….and left a gazillion wonderful memories for those who knew him.
I grew up across the street from the Heinz family in Creve Coeur and frequented their drug store. My family is sorry for your loss of such a fine man. My sister Karen and I will reminisce about Jim. Janet Barkley
Janice and family, I knew it had been a tough road since his stroke; but, it was difficult as to "what one could say or do"! We moved to Creve Coeur in 1965, and so we remember soo very much! The obit was so well written, appropriate and "right on"! I remember his dad, mom, and all of the you, THE FAMILIY! But, the part of the obit that got me the MOST was the twinkle in those blue eyes, ie: when I was Mayor of Creve Coeur, often times I would seek his thoughts, and I remember so well the advice he gave me, (with that deep seated knowledge) having been there longer than me. Creve Coeur was not the easiest village to be a "leader"; but it has lost one of it's "finest" who really cared and devoted! Sorry to hear the sad news; but, he is with dad and mom now. Take care!
Janice & Family,
We are very sad to read of Jim's passing. Jim was Diana's pharmacist from 1965 and Ed's from 1969 until he retired. He was always pleasant and professional. We have many happy memories of Jim. We hope your many happy memories will help you get through this most difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ed & Diana Johnson
We are so sorry to hear that Jim has had such a tough time..we were not aware of his situation......However, we have great memories of Jim and always appreciated his friendship, professionalism and sense of humor. We send our prayers and condolences to all of the family of which he was so very proud.
Sometime in the late 70's, my brother was sick and needed a prescription. It was after hours, before the 24 hour drugstore. Mr. Heinz opened up for my mother. May it comfort you to know how he touched others life with his kindness and it is remembered.
Jacquey, so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I can remember riding my bike over to the "hard road" to go to the library and then to Heinz Drug Store for a fountain soda. To sit at the counter was such a treat! My prayers to you all.
To the family of jim, I'm so sorry for your loss, He was a very loveable man, Loved his Drug Store I lived in creve Coeur many years and always got my medications from him. You could not ask for a better person, always had that great smile, He will be missed. God Bless you all...IRVIN.
