November 9, 2013
Richard, Mary Sue, and I used to walk to school in Yates City after the Pleasant Grove Country School closed. We were then in High School. I don't know how well you knew Mary Sue, but she was a friend of mine and she was stubborn. As we approached the rail road crossing near your home, and sometimes we would be near that crossing and would hear a train. Though it was not a good practice, I would grab one of her hands and
Richard would grab the other one and we would drag her across the tracks.

Richard was also in our Ag 4-H club. He was a few years younger than Mary Sue and I, but he was a good friend. Dad always liked it when he would help them at the farm. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Richard was a good kid and I would guess he was also a good man. I knew his family well. It is sad that they are all gone now except Mary Sue. I would love to get in touch with her but have no idea where she is or what she is doing.

I am Joan Bliss Blaser and I live in Rock Island. I knew your family as I was growing up also. Had I known sooner, I would have come to the visitation or the funeral. Mary Ann Rogers Taylor called me this morning to tell me he had passed. You and your family have my sympathy.
