AVON - Susie Virginia Roberts, 91, Avon, died at 1:05 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg.
She was born Thursday, April 14, 1927, in Middlegrove, the daughter of Lawrence P. and ONO Beatty (Ritchie) Miller. She married Joe W. Roberts on July 3, 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Joe "Ed" (Joyce) Roberts of Abingdon, David A. (Delores) Roberts of Avon and Everett L. Roberts of Avon; one daughter, Roberta L. (Jim) Cook of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Jack; grandson Jeremy; five brothers; and one sister.
Susie was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church since 1953. She farmed with her husband for 12 years. She worked at Luper and Sunberg in Avon for nine years and Admiral in Galesburg for 23 years.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at the Avon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at the church as well. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service and burial will be at later date. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Avon United Methodist Church, Angels in Action or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
