NEW HARTFORD >> Gerard George Ringstad, 67, of New Hartford, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the husband of 33 years of Linda (Jordan) Ringstad. Gerard was born in Torrington, on July 1, 1945, a son of the late Ferne (Flowers) Ringstad and George Ringstad.
He graduated from Torrington High and attended Ward School of Electronics. He worked as a Central Office Technician for AT&T, formerly SNET, and also owned Gerard Photographers in Torrington. He was an accomplished professional photographer and enjoyed travelling and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son David G. Ringstad of Winsted and daughter, Christine C. Thurm and husband Robert of Prairie Village, Kansas; and beloved grandchildren Mindi Ringstad LaBella and husband John of Billerica, Massachusetts, Kenneth G. Ringstad of Unionville, and Owen P. Thurm and Eden C. Thurm of Prairie Village. He also leaves a sister, Judith Ringstad Kennerson and her husband Roy; sisters-in-law Elaine J. Brady and partner Robert Desjardins, Frances J. Marek, Judith J. Allaire and husband Arthur; and many loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews and cousins here and in Norway
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church 21 Fern Dr Torrington at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.

Worked with "Ringer" at Snet for many years, starting in 1970. As a matter of fact, I still have a camera that I bought from him in "71". He was a great guy, and I'm very sorry for your loss.
