Alexander Sesko Obituary

WINSTED >> Alexander Sesko, 94, of Pinewoods Road, Winsted, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Sterling) Sesko. Born in Winsted, Sept. 15, 1918, he was the son of the late Felix and Stella (Neshko) Sesko. Upon the death of his mother, he was sent to the St. Francis Home for Children at Highland Heights in New Haven, returning to this area in 1936.
He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and North Africa with the U.S. Army. Among the awards and decorations he received upon his Honorable Discharge in October of 1945 were the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. Prior to his military service, he worked on a farm owned by William Harraburda and Winsted Hosiery. Later he worked for Fitzgerald Manufacturing, and O & G Construction from 1952 to 1968. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #478 and was involved with several construction projects. Later he worked for the Country Club of Torrington, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed baseball and golf, masonry work and watching construction work in progress. He enjoyed dancing with his wife of 61 years, Josie, and were seen many times in Coe Park and Southington.
He is survived by his twin sons, George A. Sesko and William J. Sesko of Winsted, a daughter Carolee J. Lombard and her husband Charles Lombard of Pleasant Valley, several nieces and nephews, and a granddaughter, Carolyn. Besides his wife Josephine, he is predeceased by his sisters, Helen Kowalski, Blanche Clough, brothers Francis Sesko and an infant brother in 1915, and a grandson David.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, with calling hours from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Goshen Center Cemetery with full military honors at 11 a.m.

George and Billy,
Im so sorry to hear about my favorite Mr. Sesko. He was a great guy and Im sorry I was unable to visit in the last few months. He will always have a special place in my hearts and prayers.
