Patsy Webb Obituary

Patsy Ruth Webb, the best mother ever in the whole wide world, passed away April 18th from lung cancer. She was 84 years old. Patsy Ruth Keenan was born October 18, 1928 to Goldie and Patrick Keenan and moved to Oregon with her parents when she was 17.

She married Jack Sasser in 1947 after meeting him where she worked for his parents at Sasser's Cleaners in Springfield, Oregon. Patsy and Jack had two sons and a daughter before he passed away in 1959.

In 1963, Patsy married Chester Webb, a widower who had two sons. In 1964 they welcomed a baby girl to the family. In 1969 Pat and Chet adopted 3 more children.

Patsy was a mom who always listened to her kids and never judged them. She was always open to talking things through. She had a fantastic sense of humor and could find humor in many things. She could always laugh at herself too. She was just a total blast to be around.

She learned to play bridge in her 40's and became a fantastic bridge player with a sharp wit. She could remember every hand she played, even a day later. Everyone always wanted her for a partner, because she always treated people nicely even if they were miserable players. Her bridge partner, Marj Strupp and she played for many years at the Eugene Bridge Club, and even recently have been playing cards together. Marj was her best friend.

In 1985 she went to work for her daughter Cris at Cris Pettit Insurance in Springfield. She got her insurance license and was very proud of passing the test for it the first time she took it. She worked there for many years, and there wasn't a customer that didn't love her. She always had an easy and common sense way about her.

Another thing she was quite good at was baking. She and her daughters got together every year the week before the Lane County Fair and entered as many as 40 baked goods a piece some years. She loved getting together and kicking the guys out for those few days while they baked, and laughed, made messes, laughed, dropped flour everywhere, and laughed and entered her entries. She took Grand Champion at least twice during this time.

One of Patsy's other favorite things to do was go fishing. She spent a lot of time down on the river and taught her kids and grandkids how to fish. She liked to fish, but didn't eat it. Go figure.

Patsy is survived by her children: Mike Sasser (Cindy) of Medford, Mark Webb (Diane) of Anchorage, Cris Pettit (Lynn) of Sweet Home, Keri Davis (Ted) of Springfield, Price Webb of Eugene; grandsons Patrick, Joseph, and Keenan; granddaughters: Rachael, Jennifer, Tiffany, Amber and Alisha; & great-grandsons Oscar and Isaiah. She is also survived by her sister in law, Zola Hamm, whom she thought of as a sister and wonderful friend. Husband, Chester and sons Mike Webb, Jim Sasser, Troy Webb and daughter Sundee Webb preceded her in death. She is also survived by brothers: Ron, Jerry, Joe and sisters Frances and Sue.

We would like to thank Jean & Keith Gorton for being such a good friends for so many years and helping our mom out. Jean has been there when Pat needed her and was there when we all needed her. She is really more a part of our family as well as a good friend. Thank you Jeannie.

We would also like to thank Cascade Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care for their love and tenderness they showed to our mom during the short time they knew her.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Pat's name to Rotary International or Marion County Dog Shelter, 3550 Aumsville Hwy SE, Salem, OR 97317.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Thomas? Episcopal Church in Eugene on Saturday May 4th at 2:00 PM.

Our family (Matthews)were close friends with the Sasser/Webb family. Cindy(Mike's wife)& Jim and I were close friends & classmates throughout school. Pat was there for my mom(Peggy Matthews) in 2006 as she battled lung cancer also- ready to help or hang out any time. Many wonderful memories of an "awesome lady"and yes - she was a wonderful mom to her family and many of us. I know she will be missed but you have her in your hearts and so many blessed memories. I know my mom and Pat will be hanging out with their "wings" and sharing stories in a beautiful place. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time as you remember her and celebrate her life.
