"With great sadness, we announce the loss of Jean Ann"
Jean Ann Genova, 60, of Castro Valley, CA, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel A. Watanabe, 64, a native of Oakland, CA - a strong, gentle giant who predeceased her on November 29, 2024.
Born in Waterbury, Jean Ann was the daughter of the late Richard A. Genova and Jean Ann (Ulinskas) Genova. Although a New England native, she carried the soul of a California girl - a Scorpio sorceress, amazing actress, humble homemaker, righteous rabble-rouser, and lifelong animal lover. She was blessed with beauty, creativity, and compassion, always in touch with her inner goddess and graciousness.
Jean Ann's life was filled with love and purpose. As an actress and homemaker, she brought warmth, humor, and authenticity to everything she did. Her deep affection for animals was a constant throughout her life; caring for her pets and all creatures great and small was one of her greatest joys.
She leaves behind her devoted sister and soul companion, Mairianne Giovanna Genova of Norfolk, CT. They are survived by their beloved pets, Bentley, Prudence, and Pandora, who were a source of endless comfort and love.

Arrangements: Jean Ann and Daniel will be laid to rest together at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Services have been entrusted to Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT.
