Kathleen Kukel Obituary

Kathleen M. Kukel
May 31, 1940 - October 18, 2025
Kathleen Mary (Fox) Kukel, 85 of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2025.
She was born in Widnes, England, on May 31, 1940, to William and Kathleen Fox. Kathleen grew up in Widnes alongside her 5 siblings- James Fox, Barbara (Fox) McCool, Margaret (Fox) Moon, Tony Fox, and Roy Fox. After graduating from high school in England, she went on to work in several factories, a catalogue company and as a mail carrier.
Adventurous and full of life, Kathleen loved trying new things and exploring new places. She was caring, funny and always loved talking to anyone she would meet. One of her greatest
adventures began when she came to America to work- she loved it so much she decided to stay. Kathleen met the love of her life, Michael Kukel, in Connecticut and they were married on August 8, 1970. They shared 55 years wonderful years together in their Southbury home. Throughout her life, Kathleen worked as a travel agent and as an insurance agent. She also had owned her own consignment shop, which brought her great joy. She loved going to tag sales, having tea with her friends and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE) organization which she enjoyed being a part of immensely.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and a Nana to her beloved grandchildren. Kathleen is survived by her daughter Jennifer Kukel, her son Michael Kukel, her daughter-in-law Danielle
Kukel, and son-in-law James Babcock. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, Hannah and Arthur.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 3-5 p.m. at Munson- Lovetere Funeral Home, 2School Street, Woodbury, CT 06798. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathleen's name to the Alzheimer's Association.

Kathy Fox Kukel was always the life of the party!
First met Kathy in Bridgeport CT - we were roommates, there were 5 of us: Kathy from England, Val from Ireland, Lennie from North Dakota, Barbara from New York and me from Connecticut. Oh the fun we had.
Prior to living with us she had many jobs, one being a Nanny. She always loved children and she would share the stories and we´d laugh and cry.
As a travel agent she was amazing. She developed a trip to the Guladopus Islands for a high school student group that my sister led, ..it was truly amazing and perfection.
On one of her visits with me to my parents home, I introduced her to a good friend...Mike Kukel. She fell head of heels in love with Mike- it was mutual!
A beautiful wedding with roommates as bridesmaids.
My Dad loved Kathy and would tease Kathy about being English and that now that she was married, time to become an American citizen -which she eventually did
Kathy was a devoted mother & wife. She was the life of the party! Loved playing little pranks, her laugh could be heard above all others.
There are so many funny and loving Kathy stories.
Kathy will be missed, but she is with us in heart!
