William Cannon Obituary

William H. Cannon
William H. Cannon, age 84, beloved husband of the late Judy Berenda Cannon, died peacefully on November 6, 2025 at Griffin Hospital with his daughter by his side. Born in Derby, on May 17, 1941, he was the son of the late William P. and Doris Fortier Cannon. Mr. Cannon was a lifelong valley resident and proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a combat Navy Seabee who was injured in action while serving on a river gun boat. Following his military service in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Cannon began his long career in law enforcement as a patrolman with the Seymour Police Department. He was then installed as a Trooper with the CT State Police in 1979 and served with honor, courage and integrity for 25 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, retiring 1994. Following his first retirement, Mr. Cannon earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven. He then served as a United States Federal Marshall at the New Haven Federal Court House for 25 years, until his second retirement in 2021. Never one to be complacent, Mr. Cannon also served as a boating officer for the Lake Zoar Boating Authority where he was able to enjoy his passion for boating and public safety. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car cruises and car shows. Mr. Cannon was a lifelong dog lover and owned several loyal canine companions through the years. He is survived by his darling daughter Stacey Cronk and her husband, Kenneth of Milford; a sister, Mary D'Amico of Ansonia; nieces Erin O'Brien, Kira O'Brien, and Cailee D'Amico, as well as nephews Raymond Wesolowski, William Wesolowski, Connor D'Amico, and Christian D'Amico. In addition to his spouse of 50 years, he was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Lisa Cannon Wolf and his twin sister, Catherine Wesolowski. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
