My sympathy to the Winters family. He will be remembered as a soldier from the Greatest Generation! My father served in WWII, my brother served in Vietnam, and my two brother in laws served together in Iraq and one was killed. My youngest son served 2 years later in Iraq. My family is so proud and we support our soldiers and love our country. May God be with Richard and his family.

"I served with heroes" as Dick Winters said when asked if he was a "hero".Typical response from a member of the "best and brightest" generation. He and his comrades saved the world from those WWII tyrants. May he live forever in our hearts. RIP,sir.

It's not offen that I look at the obits, but this morning I read Major Richard Winters and felt such a burst of pride that I had to extend a heart felt hug to the family. What a truely remarkable man. God Bless you and keep you.

I wish I could have served with him.
The example of "Leadership" he set is so sorely needed not only in the military but by any persons serving in that position.
He made me proud to be a fellow citizen of Pannsylvania as well!
Lead on Dick Winters,we will follow.
