Katherine M. Latcovich, 99, of 125 Sherman Ave., Ridgway, died peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, Dec. 6, 2017.
She was born Nov. 29, 1918 in Ridgway Township, Elk County, daughter of the late Victor J. and Mary (Benic) Latcovich.
She resided in Ridgway all her life and was the oldest surviving member of St. Leo Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, walking her dogs and loved being with her family. She had been employed by Stackpole Carbon Company, the Highland Hotel and Hermann's Tavern.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Latcovich of Ridgway and Ann Pasquino of Eastlake, Ohio; two nephews who Katherine raised as her own sons, Stephen (Christine) Latcovich of Ridgway and Daniel (Nora) Latcovich of Erie; great nieces and nephews Sarah (Joseph) McCurdy, Erin (Kenan) Erginer, Katie Latcovich, Jessica (Travis) Beimel, Daniel Latcovich Jr.; other nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph Latkovic, Stanley, George, John and Frank Latcovich; and a great nephew, Justin F. Latcovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal for Katherine M. Latcovich will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church on Monday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. Concelebrating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church and Fr. Mark Latcovich, rector of Borromeo Seminary and St. Mark's Seminary and Graduate School of Theology for the Diocese of Cleveland. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 5-7 p.m. A Wake Service will be held Sunday evening, Dec. 10 at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Elk County Humane Society or to Community Nurses Inc. Hospice Program.

I remember how warmly you spoke of your aunts. I am sorry to hear of your Aunt Katherine's passing. She sounded like a remarkable woman. She will live on in your memories and the many stories I hope you will continue to share. You are a living tribute to her.
