Words can't express the loss that we feel with the passing of Gene Hall. He was my father, my best friend, and someone who brought light into the life of all he touched. We miss you, Dad...
Gene and I grew up together,I can still see him peddling the jingle bike, selling ice cream. There were great times at my house, St. Cloud Commons, ball games, Junior High and Huntington High. He later became a member of my family, marrying my sister. His passing will leave a void for all that knew him. He was special. Celebrating in a life well lived-I will always cherish the memories, of which there are many. My condolences to the family. Patricia Lawson Donahoe
Pam, so sorry for your loss. Will fondly remember those early years at the bank and the fun we had.
Some more email tributes to Gene:

“Lets all remember Gene playing Santa at the 4th floor Christmas parties...we laughed until we cried. He was a wonderful person who mentored us and we didn't even know we were being mentored. His heart and his wit were huge and one of the smartest people I ever knew…..”
“Isn't it amazing how one man can still put a smile on our faces. I truly was blessed to have know Gene Hall. He not only was my boss for many years but also my friend……”
“Truly sorry to hear about Gene. He certainly was a major, positive influence on the inner business workings of Centerbank…..”
“….I have very fond memories of Gene as well. And I'm being very honest when I say that not every Sr. VP was as easy to work with as he was….”
Pam, I will always remember Gene as a fun loving, gentle and supportive person who always had a smile no matter what the situation. Long days at Centerbank didn't seem so long because Gene always made them fun and was right there with you.
He was a wonderful boss, co-worker but most of all a wonderful man who brought out the best in all of us.
My thoughts are with you at this time.

More tributes to Gene ascertained from email response strings:
“I was saddened to read of Gene's passing. He was a good man and it was a pleasure to work with him at Centerbank.”
“I for one, will never forget Gene, his wonderful and off beat sense of humor and his kindness...he really was one of the best.”
“Gene carried so much of our world on his shoulders back in the day and made life interesting and easier for so many, including me, maybe especially me. His heart was as big as his sense of humor as was his intelligence and capacity to get stuff done no matter how long or how hard he had to work. I can't think of a better guy to share your foxhole with…and I'm so glad that I had that chance.”
“Gene's passing has brought us together in many ways, similar to the meetings he had in the programming conference room discussing conversions, migrations and the latest SV009/SV010 special reorg run after PAN#1DH to fix a problem. Gene was good at that; he'd make all of us laugh – you couldn't help it. He made me feel important when I first started in the mailroom, buy having me as his card partner – he made me look like I knew what I was doing. He sold me my first car – a 68 Yellow Javelin, I wish I had it today. There wasn't a crisis he couldn't solve and you couldn't help but want to do your best for him, and he never asked; somehow, you just wanted to work miracles for him despite the day or the hour. Ed, Marty, Vic, Jeff and I work with banks of all sizes today, including many in the top twenty; I've never met a group of people who were more capable or shared the comradery we enjoyed throughout all the departments at the bank. It was people like Gene who fostered that culture and gave us a lifetime of great memories, even working through long weekends. Thanks Gene, you'll not be forgotten, “Reg14” awaits your return.”
It was a pleasure in my life to have had the opportunity to get to know Gene. I would say I have been cutting his hair for at least 6 years and it was always a blessing to see his smiling face and his sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, which he always talked about and was so proud of. He will be missed.
So sorry to hear about Uncle Gene's passing, he had such a great smile and his laughter lit up a room. May God wrap his loving arms around all of you and give you peace at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
i loved working with gene at centerbank. he made my day. my thoughts are with you, pam i will always remember gene as i have for all the last years.
Somewhere around 1994/1995, at the time of Gene's retirement from Centerbank, staff from his Computer Services Division held an internal farewell gathering. I was asked to speak for the CSD group. I would like to again speak for that group and paraphrase what was said at that time. “Gene, I know I speak for everyone when I say we owe you so much. You have been a great leader, mentor, and friend, and we will be forever grateful….”
Really had some good times playing cards with Gene and spending time with he and Pam on several occasions. Gene was one of the nicest guys I have ever met and will be very much missed by all.
