I remember Jerry from our first year at UVa. We lived in Dabney House and had a wonderful time in our first year year. He left us in our first year to recoup and move on with a most successful career in Medicine. He loved his Jewishness and I loved him for it being a Roman Catholic. If you didn't love him you are not worth knowing. God loves you my friend, your soul is pure!
My husband and I were just discussing Dr. Ruth and what a wonderful doctor and person he was. I can hear his voice now calling me to his office for discussion. He was such a unique comforting personality. After a difficult first delivery with another OB, he delivered our daughter after retiring from obstetrics via C-section as a favor to ease our worries about a second delivery. We just learned of his passing as we have been in Charlotte for 18 years. Condolences to the family and the world has lost a great humanitarian.
He was my favorite doctor ever! I still recall some of the amusing things he said to me over the years and vocalize them to many of my friends. I'm sure he'll be missed by all who knew him.
Jerry was such a fun guy. I have a lot of
great memories of him on the tennis courts. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
Dr. Ruth will be sadly missed. Not only did he deliver me when I was born he was my first OB GYN. He always made me feel comfortable.
I worked with Dr. Ruth at Community Hospital and witnessed what a superior surgeon he was. You always looked forward to working with him! He was also my personal physician and he never gave me any bad advice about my health. I always felt secure in what he recommended. He will be sincerely missed by so many people. But he'll keep them laughing in heaven, for sure!
DR Ruth was one of a kind - an outstanding DR - a caring person.
I can see him now - looking over those little eyeglasses - while talking to you - with his unique grin - and confronting voice.
There will never be another - like DR Ruth.
God Bless the Ruth family.
You were the best doctor I ever had. I still tell friends about you and think about you every time I drive by your Roanoke office. Thank you for being a wonderful, kind, caring person.
The world lost a great man and doctor. I met Dr. Ruth when I was pregnant with my daughter at phy.to womens. When I met him I wanted no other doctor. When my time came I told him he would be the only doctor to deliver my baby. He made it to the hospital just in time to deliver my daughter. That was over 40 years ago. From the time I was 18yrs old till he retired I never seen another doctor. He was the best. I will never forget him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Know that he will be greatly missed and remembered.
Dr. Ruth was my Doctor for many years. I always took his advise on what ever I needed to have done. I would not listen to any other Doctor. Dr. Ruth was one in million. When he retired I lost the only Dr. I believed in. He recommended me to another dr. when he retired for which I am very grateful. He was missed when he retired and my sincere symphany to his family at this time. Know that he will be remembered by many.

Oh how I loved Dr. Ruth!! He was my doc until the day he retired!!! I used to love our discussions of flowers (I was in the landscaping buisness back then), and I especially loved when he would say "Cynthia...."with a smirk on his face, and the funniest little tone in his voice, when he had words of wisdom to pass on. He always reminded me that I Shared the same name as his "wonderful wife", as he so fondly called her....He was a GREAT MAN!!!!
