With love to you, Jim, and to all your family, as we remember and celebrate a beautiful life, Martha and Dan
I'll always remember Jerryanne and her family for their love and involvement in the AFS program. Her love of learning was apparent by the different experiences she sought, always growing and seeking to understand.
I had a lot of love and respect for Jerryanne. We had many enjoyable conversations on numerous topics. I am sorry I could not attend her celebration of life because I was having a celebration of life for Don on the same day at Mill Mountain. ~Donna M. Dougherty, Harrisville, PA
To Know Her Was To Love Her.
Always a kind word. Always took the time to share.
Such beauty inside and out.
A Unique Young Women.
I attended middle & high school with her. I remember how she went out of her way to make others feel important. My husband and I send our warm thoughts to her husband and family. Our deep condolences,

and ask God above to
Thanks for everything. love you.
Jerryanne and I met when I was preparing for ordained ministry in the mid-1990s. "How can you believe some of that stuff," she asked once, sincere and incredulous at the same time. "I don't," I said quickly and we both fell into a liberation of laughter.
I may not embrace everything the church teaches but I believe Jerryanne was a true Christ person. When I doubt that someone like Jesus could have done what he did, I think of Jerryanne and I know the world is regularly sent huge, humble souls to show us what it means to be truly, deeply, wonderfully alive.
Of the many who have influenced my life and my faith, Jerryanne stands at the tiptop of the list. I will miss her deeply and be forever grateful that our paths crossed. My faith and life are blessed because of her great shining.
I knew Jerryanne through community mediation. She was the essence of what community mediation was at its heart. She was such a bright spot. I feel priviledged to have known and worked with her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
When a great soul relocates, things move around for a while. Jerryanne is a great soul, and I'm finding it hard to be steady in putting words to the celebration of her life and the reverberations of her moving on . May God's holy love and the answering love of the myriad lives she graced bring peace and comfort to all who love Jerryanne, who miss her voice and touch, her kindness and wisdom, and ho celebrate her gifts to her family and her neighbors around the planet. We are blessed to know you, Jerryanne, and pray God's peace for Jim and their children and grandchildren. Love, Katherine and Will Hensel, Houston, TX
Jerryanne: You were always the best of us, and clearly remained so from our time in high school to the end. God Bless You. Paul and Linda Bradley
Jim and Family....Jerryanne's wise voice will continue to teach and support all of us to continue her good work to bring peace to conflict and justice for all. I feel very blessed to have had her participate with Ferrum' s Center for Community Engagement.
Gentle, loving, peaceful, brave, intelligent, understanding, forgiving, calming, friendly, and heartwarming are just some of the words I can think of to describe Jerryanne. She helped me and gave me wonderful advice during one of the hardest times in my life. She offered me friendship and love when many others didn't....and for that I will always be grateful. hugs to all the Bier family xx
Feeling your hearts lightened by Jerryanne and God's abiding love.
Our prayers are with you and your family.
I love you, Jerryanne, for helping to create and inspire such a beautiful, thoughtful family that truly makes the world a better place. Your life makes the world a better place. And, as you journey out from this world toward the light of peace, please continue to watch over and inspire each of your beloved.

Reading her obituary I grieve for myself that I never knew this woman with such broad and deep scope of considerations, such love, and joy. I feel a missed opportunity for a best friend. But I see she had many of those with no wonder. How less a world without her magnitude of love! How lucky the communities that were served by her with such wisdom and devotion. I am very sorry for her loss but very happy such a person lived and gave as much as she did to so many. What a fine example of what a human being can be.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God give you comfort during this time.
All will be well; It's all God.
Jerryanne...one of the absolute best of the best. Always warm, personable, genuine, bright and filled with a wonderful charming spirit. Proud and blessed to call her classmate, she will be very fondly remembered and sadly missed.
Fitz-Edward Otis II BCHS Class of 1963
I first met Jerryanne some years back through work with the Conflict Resolution Center. I knew then I had encountered a spirit with much depth of spirituality. She was never forgotten and I was delighted to re-encounter her in recent years. My only regret is not having the opportunity to spend more time with a woman from who I had much to learn. We send our condolences to Jim and the family who has lost an amazing spirit with much grace and Beauty. Sending prayers for comfort in this difficult time
Come, come whoever you are, even though you've broken your vow a thousand times, come, Come again.
In my 63 years Jerryanne Bier is a person whom I respected more than anyone. These are some but not all of the words that I associate with her incredible spirit: kind, peaceful, determined, loving, loving, light up the room smile, caring, don't hate mediate, teacher, scholar, horticulturalist, concerned, environmentalist, kind, considerate, keen intellect, kind knowledgeable, friendly, articulate, faith, understanding, patient, kind, loving, caring, kind. I love you Jerryanne Bier and your spirit will be with me for ever and always.
I am just so sorry to hear of this news. I wish I had stayed in better contact with the entire Bier family. I will greatly miss her. She was an amazing person and I was blessed to have known her.
We have been touched by your gentle spirit, wisdom, thoughtfulness and good humor.
Having worked with Jerryanne for the last 15 years I came to know her gentleness, her sincerity and her kindness. I know that she leaves a hole in the heart of many of us.
Jim and family, so sorry to hear about Jerryanne's passing. She certainly leaves a big hole in the community. Prayers and thoughts are with you all. Let me know if you need anything!

Jerryanne was a special person even when I went to high school with her. Her life was a testament to her beautiful spirit. My condolences and respect to her family.
What an amazingly class act this wonderful lady was !! We should all take a page from the book of Jerryanne's life and hope to move on with the same grace, style, and love that she imparted to all of her family, friends, and any and all who may have been fortunate enough to have made her acquaintance.
I suspect we will all think of and remember Jerryanne with the greatest of love and respect! Too soon, Jerryanne .... way too soon.
Joe and I were so sorry to hear and send our condolences!

"Gosh darn" was the subject line when Jerryanne wrote on June 15 to tell me she was in Hospice care and would not be able to attend our 50th BCHS Reunion in October in Delmar, New York. Jerryanne has attended most of our reunions over the years and had looked forward to the 50th. In her final paragraph she said: "The interesting - and somewhat odd piece is that I am very much at peace and am content. Family and friends are all loving and embracing during this unique time." What a tribute to her loving family and friends. What a lady Jerryanne turned out to be!! You left much too soon. We will miss you, Jerryanne...and we will salute your life and the contributions you made. Jim, we've only met once over these years...my heartfelt condolences to your and your fantastic family...from me and the entire BCHS Class of 1963.
This spring, the Ferrum College faculty named Jerryanne a 2013 recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan award (which Jim received in the past). The award is presented annually to a community member "in recognition of (his or her) fine spiritual qualities practically applied to daily living. Each person must be of noble character spending his or her time in the interest and betterment of mankind." I cannot think of a more appropriate recipient than Jerryanne nor a more apt description of her character. She is one of my role models as a social activist, a mother, and a human being.
It is with great sadness that I read of my grade school companion's passing. Her smile was the best! God be with you and your family.
I struggle every day to understand this "love your enemy" business. Many times over the years Jerryanne showed me, better than anyone, just what this means. Brave, strong, and uncompromising in the truth she was given to see, she somehow took her stand for truth and justice with deep, sincere respect and compassion for those who thought differently. I carry images in my heart of her shaking her head in utter disbelief at social and political policies that hurt the most vulnerable among us, but somehow with a light of humor ... at the absurdity of it all...and love in her eyes. I will miss knowing she's walking this earth with us, but she gave me a gift of seeing that I will always carry.
We are so sorry to hear about the end of Jerryanne's amazing life. We will be out of town for her celebration. Hugs to all of you.
It's hard to believe that such a loving, giving, devoted person could be gone. Your loss is shared with all who knew her, and also with the community she served. Many will never know how she had touched their lives.
Inexplicably and unintentionally, we forgot to include in the Jerryanne's obituary the names of the amazing young men who have chosen to be part of our family. WE will look at the family character shortcoming that allowed this oversight. Both Glen Stevens, Rebecca's husband, and Scott Williams, Sara's husband have been loving, strong, and patient with the trying aspects of being part of this family. During the final leg of Jerryanne's journey they provided the perfect amount of space and inclusion of our five sparkling and diverse grandchildren. I thank and bless them here.
Jerryanne - love and kindness, care and delight were her stock in trade.
It's amazing grace she was with us and just awesome that she married Jim.
Sorry for your loss. My prayers are with the family at this time. JerryAnne was truly a great lady!
My prayers to Jerryanne's family on your loss. Ron Denham BCHS Class of '62
Rebecca, Jessica, Jonathan, and Sara
I just learned of your mom's battle a little over a week ago when I was briefly in town. I so wanted to stop by one more time. Jerryanne just radiated warmth, love, and openness! She was a special lady. My love to you and your family always and especially through this difficult time.
Words are so hard to find to express my sorrow. You all were like family while I was at school. Jerryanne was a wonderful and caring person. It was a blessing to know her. My prayers are with you.
Jerryanne always had the most amazing, loving, and beautiful energy around her. I will always remember her beautiful smile and kindness. We were all very fortunate to have had her for a while on this earth.
Jerryanne Made a real difference in the lives of others through her service. May she rest in peace.
Rebecca, Jessica, Jonathan, Sara, grandkids and Jim, words fall vastly short at this time of HUGE loss, much love, smoke & prayers.
Jim, I am so sorry about your loss. I never knew your wife but she must have been a wonderful woman. My prayers are with you and your family.
Jerryanne was the bees knees. She was an awesome lady who always took time for me. I am so very sorry, I wish peace for all of you.

The love and Light that your sweet Jerryanne radiated with such strong yet gentle Grace continues to glow and spread through all those whose lives she touched. Peace to you and yours Jim.
Love, light and peace to Jim and the family. She sounds like a very special soul and I am wishing I had known her. I hope you all find peace during this sad time. Love, Robin and Darrell Kavanaugh
You're definitely in my thoughts, Jim...
So sorry to learn of her death.
Jerryanne was wonderful soul who always had a kind word to say and smile to brighten your day. She will be missed.
I saw Jim mentioned on his fb page that Jerryanne glowed. This is absolutely what Todd and I and our family would say about her. She glowed. We can see that glow living on in her children and grandchildren and in every person she touched with her helpful, loving spirit. Prayers for her family and friends and thanks to God for letting us experience her light for a little while.
We have been friends since we came to Ferrum so long ago, and our children grew up together. We will always remember Jerryanne for her wide smile and her good works. We feel a great tear in the old Ferrum fabric.
With deepest condolences to you and your family.
Richard and Kathleen
May the Joy she knew and cultivated grow in ever expanding circles evermore! what a pleasure to have felt her smile!peace peace peace
O Bodacious Babe! I will miss your former presence and holding my hand, but know that you will travel with me always in so many ways ;-)>
What a wonderful life she lived. Jim, my thoughts are with you and your family.
Dear Jim and all the Bier family,
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all, as we have learned of the passing of a great, dear and loving friend. Jerryanne will be greatly missed, her support and encouragement will never be forgotten. I truly can say, as the old song says, "Another friend has gone". We will continue to pray for you all.
A great tribute to a beautiful person and friend.
To Jessica for the loss of your Mom.
my heart is filled with a confusing mixture of joy (from having known and worked with Jerryanne) and sorrow (from loosing her so soon)... she was one of my children't preschool teachers, we attended the Episcopal church in Callaway together and worked together in helping needy families, and she and Jim were our neighbors. May the peace of the Lord and the blessings of a life well lived comfort her family.
Thinking of you all with much love, Jim.
Clark and Phyllis
