I ran into Seth face to face a few times over the years I lived in Roanoke, but never substantially connected until I left Roanoke. We connected on a message board and later on the social networking site Facebook.
We exchanged messages when he'd scratch his head about a political or philosophical/theological point I'd raised. He didn't scratch his head in confusion about what I meant, but why in the world I'd hold the view I aired. Over the last year, he started letting me know that I was in his prayers due to whatever problems I openly shared on Facebook. After I mentioned worrying about someone I described as a "Gomer to my Hosea," he offered to take me out to lunch the next time I'd make it down to Roanoke. Unfortunately, I never did.
Deirdre, Emily, Susan, and all of Seth's other loved ones: you have my deepest sympathy.
