David H. Williams
9/16/1929 - 11/2/2012
David H. Williams, age 83, died at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, on November 2, 2012.
He was born on September 16, 1929, in Long Beach, Calif., to proud parents, Herbert and Faye. He attended college in Long Beach and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.
After college, David was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers thanks to his exemplary pitching skill, and played for several minor league affiliates from 1950 to 1953. In 1953, David was called upon by his country to serve in the Korean War, and did so honorably until his discharge.
Subsequent to his professional baseball career and military service, David settled in Lincoln, Calif., with his wife where he worked for the State of California until his retirement - helping to build roads, highways, and city infrastructure. It was in Lincoln that David also helped to found the first Little League division there, sticking to his baseball roots.
David also was a member of the American Legion, and a District Governor of his local Lions club.
David is survived by his wife Bernadine, and grandchildren, Renee, and Wayne. In addition, he was preceded into death by his mother and father, son David Matthew Williams, and infant child.
Funeral Services for David H. Williams will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 280 Oak Tree Lane in Lincoln. Father Erik Lofgren and Father John Boil will perform the Mass from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church for a Rosary held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Relatives and friends are welcome.

As the years fly by, we lose contact with friends and regret the distance.
But the happy memories remain with us forever.

Dave was always at the Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast. Bernadine too. He will be missed by all who knew him. We are all born to know and love God and God has now called Dave to Heaven to continue his love there, waiting to greet us when we are called by God. To Bernie and her grand children, Renee and Wayne, Dave is watching over you for the rest of your lives. He is not gone if we remember him. May God bless you and keep you, may He let His light shine upon you and be gracious to you and grant you peace always. We love you.
