Sidney once shared with me a recording by then Soul Stirrers. It included A Change Is Gonna Come. I thank God for him and the passion that he poured out with each opportunity to express himself. May his beautiful family be comforted with the reassurance that the change that he sang about has come indeed.

Sidney was a handsome man, as is the whole Thompson family. He had his own unique personality, had a great faith in God, faithful church-goer of Allen Chapel AME Church. Active participant in the men's choir along with brother Wendall, and had a rich passionate singing voice and style, which I can hear in my head right now. He will be missed. But Jesus loves him best, and I believe he's singing in God's heavenly choir right now, and mother Bea and father Willie are enjoying him right now. Bless you Thompson family. Peace of the Lord. Alicia,

Through experience we can certainly relate to those with the loss of siblings, children, mother, father & other relatives; but not the loss of a spouse; seems unimaginable. However, God is in control & there's nothing we can do about it. Remember our Heavenly Father is with you, Sidney's children/grandchildren & extended family members during this time & He will never leave nor forsake you.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO MOURN FOR THEY WILL BE COMFORTED. MATTHEW 5:4

Rev. Mae;

Having recently gone through the very same thing; we feel your pain; and we are sadden by your loss. However, we understand and we know that you undertand that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So we rejoice with you that Sidney is now present with the Lord. We would love to be a part of Sidney's Homegoing Celebration with you and your family; however, circumstances won't allow us to do so. Nonetheless, we are praying for you, Karen, Kevin, Rick, Keith and the rest of your family that God will protect you and give you peace. Know that we love you very much.

Always;
Your Texas Sisters~~~~

A voice and dear friend is now leading the heavenly choir. I cannot find the words to express my deep feelings for my friend Sidney , we all being "Court Street " Briggs hotel kids growing up made our friendship go back a long way at that time we were all neighbors and friends and sort of looked out for each other and became one family. To again after many years meet up with my friend at Allen Chapel was truly a blessing and we greeted each other as that, he would bring pictures of the Court Street kids to church and we would discuss the gang and talk of old times and where are they now? Sidney loved to sing and could make a sleeper wake up and say " What and who is that"? to his family my deepest sympathy he will be missed but I look forward to seeing him again and join that heavenly choir he is leading and know that if I hit the wrong note not only can he step in but can comfort me with his compassion and nursing skills and assure me all will be okay ......sing on my friend ..sing on........ see you later.
