NORTH SPRINGFIELD - Leslie Bibens Von Bargen, 58, passed away from ovarian cancer on July 9, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.
Leslie was born on January 2, 1954, in Springfield, Vermont, to Eric R. and Janet Bibens. She is sister to Rick Bibens, Roy Bibens, Bob Bibens, Russell Bibens and Marcia Tammeus.
Leslie married John Von Bargen, founder of Von Bargen's Jewelry, in 1975, and was an integral part of the firm's success. Together they had two children, John Eric and Julie. She is survived by her husband, John, and their two children and families, John, Emily and Jack Von Bargen and Jason, Julie and Evie Thom. Leslie's primary ambition in life was to be a mother and grandmother. She put an exceptional amount of energy and love into her family. She also shared her love and energy with many, many friends.
Leslie's pride and passion was in the time she spent loving and caring for family and friends. Leslie lived for the moment and always brought her "triple double" energy and positive attitude to the people around her, even when faced with the horrendous trials of cancer. She displayed incredible strength, courage and grace and gained the admiration and love of everyone she encountered during her cancer journey. She faced the most difficult of moments with her signature smile and pink lipstick, always the epitome of class.
Leslie will be missed intensely by her family and by the many friends for whom she cared so deeply.
Leslie and her family are so thankful and touched by the incredible care and love of all those who supported them through the recent past.
The funeral service for Leslie will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Congregational Church in Springfield, Vermont. A reception will follow at the Von Bargen's home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Leslie's honor to The Norris Cotton Cancer Center Research Fund (ph. 603-653-0745) or the Oncology Clinic at Springfield Hospital (ph. 802-886-1600).

Dear John and family,
I was so sad to learn that Leslie ultimately lost her valiant battle. It is comforting to know that she had the opportunity to see the next generation come along. Her courage and optimism surely kept her with us longer than we ever thought possible. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Deepest condolences,
Mary Helen
