Mrs. Whitcolm was my music teacher, as well as a family friend from the Unitarian Universalist Church community in Springfield. In addition to singing, I remember her teaching us how to play the xylophone, which was great fun. My classmates and I were delighted to see her this past June at the Alumni parade, and she was so happy to see her former students. Such a wonderful person and a life well lived. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Have one of her cranes with me today. Remember the wonderful times we had when she joined Isabella to play duets. Know how much she will be missed, Hallie. Peggy Knoras

Hallie and Cherry .. what a wonderful life. From her days as our Music Teacher to my shocking surprise that we would cross paths in a more personal relationship w/ you girls. In that particular era it was the best of times, experiences and worldly enlightenment. I so enjoyed Deak's interest in my future as well, a man w/ such profound integrity. I will miss this amazing woman who has to this day has been such an implausible role model to all she has touched. 'Much love to you both ...

A Springfield legend, taught so many Springfield students. So talented I remember how she used to play the violin in our elementary classrooms. Even in her 90's she was giving of her talents at Genesis Rehab. in Springfield entertaining patients. My sympathies to Hallie and Cherry on the loss of their mother.
