In law school at the University of Texas, Boren and Lynn Chertkov were the closest friends my wife Helen and I had. When my daughter Ellie was born in March 1963, I left the hospital and went straight to their apartment. We marched, picketed and demonstrated together for civil rights, nuclear disarmament, peace-- all manner of issues.I saw Boren for the first time in 35 years a few years ago. I had immense respect and affection for Boren over the 50 years I knew him.

I knew Boren during his time in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariannas, and was able to observe his great work (that MOU was a masterpiece!). Everyone that knew him will miss him, and so will all those that benefited from his efforts without ever knowing who was responsible. My thoughts are with Ann and the family. I miss you Boren!

Boren was ever cheerful, always kind, and a warrior for social justice. He will be sorely missed by so many. My condolences to Ann, and other family and friends of this truly great person.

Dear Boren: We will miss you. As a neighbor and a friend, you had a way of turning the most mundane chores into adventures. Your joy, your chuckle and big heart live on every time we harvest our orange tree, fix our sprinkler or even just rake our yard. We love you. Nini and Michael.

No better man. He embodied the vision of "walking the talk".
He listened hard and gave from the heart.

Boren was a remarkably kind man who always was willing to offer direction and counsel based on his vast experience in the labor Relations field. But more his compassion for his fellow man was based on his belief in the dignity of each man and women he came in contact with, He was a good man. We already miss him.

Boren, may your wisdom, wit, and love continue to smile down on the rest of us. You were a great help an example to me.

Boren was all that you could ask for in a public servant. He followed his heart to do the "right" thing. It wasn't always the most expeditious choice or the option that followed the manual, but he was going to do right by the people he served -- and he did. I admired him so much and valued him as a friend and co-worker. My family and I send Ann and family all our best.
