SPIETH, Jr., Erwin Jack
CHP officer Erwin Jack Spieth, Jr. died in his Carmichael home, Dec. 31, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana May 6, 1926. Preceded in death by his parents, Irwin & Hazel; brother, Bob & sister, Coralee.
Moved to Sacramento at the age of 6. Attended Hagginwood Grammar school, Grant High school, and Grant Tech College.
Veteran of WW II, served in the US Navy 1944-1946. Fought in Okinawa, Philippines, Saipan & the Battles of Midway.
Was a member of the Carmichael Elks Lodge No. 2103 and a 55 year member of Warren G. Harding San Juan Lodge of Free & accepting Masons No. 579.
He joined the CHP in Oct, 1958 graduated Dec 1958. Served in East L.A. area, Vallejo, and retired from the North area Sacramento office in Dec. 1985. Joined the Cal Expo State Police in 1986 and retired in 2005.
He loved working in his vegetable garden, growing oranges, and his favorite flowers were red geraniums.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara of 59 years; son, Bob; daughters, Becky (Mike) and Debbie (Dale); grandchildren, Adam (Tossa) Alison, Trevor and Matt; great-grandchildren, Sarah & Cody. Many nieces and nephews and dear friends who will miss his dearly.
The family wishes to Thank all the hospice nurses who gave him such good care, they were very special.

No services will be held and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
