He was a long time member of the Calkins Family Association. He will be missed. He was a great Calkins family member and made us all proud to have him as a member.
I just found out that Ordell has passed,I will truly miss him. He was my best link to my Calkins genealogy, and I talked to him on the phone every few months to catch up on how he was doing, and to share any new information on our family. He was like a mentor to me and I corresponded with him for twenty or more years, and he was such a kind person to share his knowledge with me. I will miss him so much.
So many wonderful memories will be cherished. How thankful we were to call Ordell our friend. Our love to Beverly, Duane and Merle.

Beverly, Merle, and Duane,
We are so sorry to hear of the death of your father, especially in light of the passing of your mother less than a year ago. They were both great people.

A beautiful life that came to an end, he died as he lived, everyone's friend. In our hearts, a memory will always be kept, of one we loved, we will never forget.
Our hearts go out to an old friend and colleauge. Ordell was responsible for my joining the faculty at CSUS and I am indebted to his services and kindness. Our sincere condolences to the family.

Dear Dr. Calkins and family,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your father. He will now be with your mom for eternity.
My prayers are with you knowing how hard this must be. Feel the comfort from those that will reach out to you.

As my first brotheri=-in-law we have had you in the family for years. You will be missed by not only your children but many others as well. We look for the day when Jesus comes and we can be reunited with loved ones, especially Margaret.
Ordell's presence is missed in our little Sabbath class, along with his wisdom. I will miss his wonderful hugs, and smiles, and mentoring. We'll see you again...love Jim & Peggy McCarthy
Uncle Ordell was one of the smartest people I know. I remember testing his skills at numbers when I was a child - always amazed at how speedily he could add a page of numbers. Numbers were his language.
You will be missed, Uncle Ordell, but I know your heart was always with Margaret. Now, the two of you can wait together. See you soon in a beautiful new heaven!
Ordell has been my brother-in-law since I was only 9 years old. I pray that I will see him in heaven.
This brother-in-law will be missed, his thoughts, his laugh, his concern for his family. Meet you in heaven with Margaret.
