Julie and I had been friends since elementary school. I have lots of treasured memories of sleepovers and birthday parties and eating pizza together. She was a very special friend.
Julie and I were friends since 3rd grade. She was the reason I had a social life in high school. I was such a nerd, but she was still my friend. She was like the mother in our group of friends, always taking care of us and making sure we got home safely. Even though we drifted apart in our adult lives, I will always have special memories of her and all of the fun we had as kids. Julie was a very special person and wonderful friend.
Julie was a very special person. She was so wise for her age. Although we hadn't spoken in a few years, I always appreciated her friendship and was sadden to hear of her passing. But I know she is in a better place.
Julianne: You will always be missed my friend, but I know you are in a much better place now. Your light will continue to shine through all of the lives you have touched.
EULOGY FOR A FRIEND
DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP,I AM NOT THERE, I DO NOT SLEEP. IAM A THOUSAND WINDS THAT BLOW. IAM THE DIAMOND GLINTS ON SNOW. I AM THE SUNLIGHT ON A RIPENED GRAIN. I AM THE GENTLE RAIN. WHEN YOU WAKEN IN THE MORNINGS, HUSH. IAM THE SWIFT UPLIFTING RUSH OF QUIET BIRDS IN CIRCLED FLIGHT. I AM THE SOFT STARS THAT SHINE AT NIGHT. DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND CRY. I AM NOT THERE, I DID NOT DIE.
THIS IS FOR YOU OUR FAVORITE PT THE LIFE IN YOUR SOUL WILL NEVER LEAVE US THAT ARE BOUND TO THE EARTH LOVE TO YOU WE WILL MISS YOU SARA AND AMBER SCHMO
My Dear Julianne,
I will miss you, but I will not forget your beautiful smile, eloquent and thoughtful words of wisdom, and great sense of humor. May you find eternal peace with our Lord! Family and Friends through time we will grow stronger as we continue her legacy as a living example of her virtuous existence with us.
I wanted to share some excerpts from Abide with Me by Henry Francis Lyte (1847) for Julianne, her family, and her friends:
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
+Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.+
Dearest Ray and Libby: surround yourself with strength and courage. Know you have the love and prayers from so many friends and family. The light that was Julie just got brighter. - that is the energy source you must draw from. Lots of love, Jaci Estes
Julianne was a kind, witty, and intelligent lady. She loved to say things were "fabulous" and if she was speaking about you she would add "darling". She loved sports and I worked in sports so we shared many fun times together over the years. She was always ready to help out and go the extra mile for her friends. I'm very glad to have known her and to have had her as a dear friend.
You were one of my first friends in Sacramento after I moved here in 1998. I'm so fortunate to have had to opportunity to meet you. Thanks for the lunches at Rastafari and the fun times (and not so fun times) we had at DOF. Can't help but feel like family after working in a place like that. I will miss you dearly.
Dear Julianne, I will miss you, your smile and wonderful outlook on life. You and I worked as a team several years and I considered you a close part of my Assembly family. You would come by to just visit, or with a smile come give me your opinion on issues we worked on. In the evening you would join the rest of my Assembly family for dinner or just to have some fun. Even after I left the Assembly you came to join our dinner gatherings. You blessed each and everyone of us with your courage and beautiful smile inspite of your pain. You taught us to share our gifts, to enjoy and share our lives with others. I will not forget your lessons. I will miss you always.
Bob Pacheco, State Assemblyman (retired)
Dearest Julie, life was short for you here on earth but the impression you leave behind will last forever. The world will miss all that you have done. I pray you now rest in peace and let God take your burden from you. Unlce Raymond and Aunt Libby may your hearts be filled with the love Julie has left behind. I love you all.
When Tex Schramm built Texas Stadium shortly after Julianne was born, he left a hole in the roof. As she was fond of reminding me, that was so God could see his team on Sunday. Ironically, this is the last season before her beloved Cowboys move to a new stadium. However, I am certain that God will be happy to give up his seats to her for their final home games.
I will miss you, baby doll. Try to look in on the 49ers from time to time, they could really use your help.
I will always remember Julianne as a reliably bright spirit in the Capitol. Although we were only work colleagues, I will greatly miss her warmth and cheer. My sincerest condolences to her friends and family.
My condolences to Julie’s family, I was very sad to hear of her passing. Although I haven’t seen her for years; I have fond memories of her when we worked together at CDSS. She was always friendly and helpful to me back in my clerical days and I could always count on her for support. I wish the family well in their time of sorrow, but remember that Julie will always be in your heart.
Julie, I pray that you rest in peace and that your spirit be with God. We shared the same name after our Grandmother Julia, you will be missed. My prayers are with my Uncle Ray and Aunt Libby and cousins Terry and Raymond Jr.
Julianne was truly a gift to everyone who met her. She always had a bright smile on her face and something positive to say. I will miss her. We were work colleagues but I always thought of her as a friend.
I only knew Julianne professionally, in that she provided staff support for a member of an advisory board in Sacramento with which we worked. However, I did observe her over her five year battle with cancer and found her to be a very sweet, caring individual who continued to put all of her energy into her work despite the great challenge that must have been. While I did not know her well, I am very touched by her passing and wish her family and friends well in dealing with her loss. I will miss her consistent, engaging personality.
Julie was such a kind, loving, friend. She alway's met you with a smile and a kind heart. I was very fortunate to know Julie throughout the 90's. Although I hadn't stayed in touch with her over the years I'll always remember the many fond memories I got to share with her. My prayers are with her family and friends during this time of loss. God bless her.
Jules, AKA Lettuce Breath, you were such a positive influence in my life in so many ways. I'm a better person for having known you, and I will miss you terribly. My heart goes out to your family and friends who are feeling the loss of your beautiful self. May God grant them comfort.
I had the great good fortune to have had Julianne's assistance for several years in the Assembly. Her always stylish appearance, warm smile and careing demeanor always brightened my day. She leaves us far too soon and with very heavy hearts at her loss. Please know that she is in my thoughts and prayers.
To my dear, sweet cousin Julie, I am so grateful to have met with you when i was in Sacramento for training and we ate at the Cheese Cake Factory and watched "The Holiday" at the movies we had a good time. My prayers go out to my Aunt Libby, Uncle Raymond, Terry and Raymond.
We will always remember your visits from Austin, Texas, and your visits from Sacramento. We grew to know and love you. You made our trips to Sacramento so special. Our prayers are with Ray and Libby and Terry and Raymond Jr.
I have not the words to express the sorrow I feel. My heart goes out to my Uncle Raymond and his family. God Bless.
My dear cousin Julie, and fellow namesake for our abuelita, Julia, I will miss you. Your beauty shines inside and out, and I am grateful for the experiences we have shared together.

We met when you worked at California Department Social Services. Along with your striking good looks and infectious personality, you were never loss for words. You always had that ready smile and warm "hello" no matter how crowded it was in the elevators. I admire your poise and confidence, as well as your work with the less fortunate. God Bless and Peace be with you.
Not sure if any family will read this, but I am very sad that my young cousins life was cut short. I hope that God gives comfort to my Uncle Ramon and Aunt Libby who I love dearly. Nothing can make their pain go away, but I pray their hearts will heal in time. I love you guys very much. Andrea Chavez Soto "Drea"
Thank you for being such a beautiful presence in my life. I will miss you so much, but I know you are the most stunning angel in heaven now.
My sincere condolences to Julie's family. May the Lord grant you peace and strength.
Julie, I've know Julie and her family since 1975. I remember all the times we spent together as families camping & just being together. Last I saw Julie was Nov 2004, when I married Larry. Julie you were loved very much by all. In your new travels go see Tom and give each other a hug from all of us.
Julie was a great and valued friend who laughed easily, and always brought a smile to me and to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed, and will always be in my thoughts. The only comfort I can take from this tragedy is that she is no longer suffering and in pain. She was truly one of the greatest, warmest, most caring person that I have ever met. Rest in peace dear friend.
Julianne, you were a special person and we will miss you. No one knows why God takes people so young but he must have a special plan for you.Listen to him and watch over us here on earth. If you see either of your set of your grandparents tell them they are thought of often. Mom and Dad
Julie was my only sister and she will be missed and she was dearly loved. Even with the seperations and states between us, she was always in my thoughts, my heart and my prayer. I will always love you. Your sister, Terri.
I will miss you and our yearly attempted tries at having dinner together to celebrate our birthdays. Lovingly, Aunt Kathy
