I'm a friend of Stephen's sister, Penelope Hanmer, and am saddened at his death. May all the family sense the love and concerns of friends during these difficult days.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steve's family. We remember the good conversations enjoyed with Steve when he was at the USAA Sacramento office, he and my husband enjoyed exchanging their Marine Corps stories! A good and caring man who will be missed my many!
Dear Virginia & Family: Steve was a one-of-a-kind leader in catastrophe response and recovery, whom I admired so much! Since his retirement, I enjoyed the many beautiful photos he sent us, along with his travelogues and commentaries -- clearly showing his love and deep pride in his family, and his appreciation for God and Country. Please accept my deepest condolences for your great loss. We'll truly miss him!

Virginia and family
Steve was a "one of a kind" good man and a great husband / father. Dinah and I enjoyed the "all to infrequent" times when we could share his wit and smile. May God bless the Marlin family during this time of sorrow. We are sure that God is waiting for Steve to join him and bring some joy to heaven.
Yours with all our Love...
Rich and Dinah Evans

Steve was a wonderful person. He was my mentor, my boss, my colleague, but most of all, he was my friend. I have wonderful memories or our times together. He will be missed by many.
I'm glad we got together when we did. We'll miss you.
Our sincerest sympathies to the Marlin family. Steve was a wonderful man who will certainly light up Heaven, bringing his unique joy and laughter there as he did while he was here.

We will miss the ever-present joy Steve brought to all of us through his love of life. I will miss his beautiful photographs and insights into our world. Thank you Steve.
My condolences to the Marlin family. Steve was truly one of the "good guys" I had the privilege of working with at USAA. His character, wit, and compassion for others was unmatched!! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!
