Marline and I are sad to see that Steve has passed. We remember his smiling face and great disposition always, whether working around The Sacramento Union, or playing softball for the newspaper's team. We haven't seen him since a "Union Reunion" several years ago. He was a great guy and we considered him a true friend. We miss him.

I'm sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. All can look forward to the time when God will wipe out every tear from our eyes and death will be no more.

Steve was a great guy. When I saw him last in October at our high school reunion he greeted me with a fantastic smile. He will be missed and my prayers go out to his family.

You are missed. I appreciate your friendship, mentoring and patient edits and rewrites when I wrote the occasional freelance music reviews for the Sacramento Union. I realy enjoyed hearing the great stories and adventures. I don't think you ever repeated a story either. That is impressive! I truly enjoyed talking about music with you and jousting on music trivia when taling about who played with whom on which album. Take care brother. Go In Peace.

Steve "Ernie D" Connell was a wonderful colleague, a great guy and the staff ace of the Sacto Union softball team that won many games and enjoyed even more laughs. He's probably ragging on Don Bloom, and Ned Wirth somewhere as this is written. Thoughts and prayers for Steve's family, and RIP to a truly good guy.
