John was a dear friend through four years at Manhattan College, always there, always dependable. Four of us shared an apartment in our senior year. Like many of our classmates John was drafted into the Army, and since he didn't believe in doing things half heartedly he opted into the 101st Airborne Division. I know a little something of his experiences in VietNam and can say that his exploits were downright brave, even astonishing. He demonstrated a courage that few other men have. We grew apart after his move to California, but I always considered John to have been one of my best friends ever. May he rest in peace and may his family have peace knowing what a fine person he was and how respected he was by everyone that knew him.

I have some wonderful memories of John L, my cousin. John's wit was dry and to the point. His laugh was jolly and full of mischief. Those are the memories I will keep.
I am proud of his service and I never knew he received the Bronze Star - Bless him forever.

While we know that John is free from pain and now in the loving arms of our Lord, you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you begin a new chapter without him. John was a delightful man and I am so glad he came to Michigan to meet your extended family Kathy.
With love from one of your many cousins...

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
