tears in my eyes for the loss of Rex. His cartoon from the airplane rescued by the hands of God is in my kitchen and computer room. May he rest in peace

I knew Rex right after he graduated college. We had some mutual friends from San Diego and we would go out drinking in and around Orange County. Dreaming and planning our futures. we were so young and full of promise and hope then. I lost track of him over the years until this article popped up, very sad. We always had great conversations, not the menial, narrow ones that mostly occur in bars, but meaty political, social, and spiritual conversations,,,sometimes it helped when were trying to pick up girls or look smart, but mostly it was for the love of good conversation,,,he said something to me that I never forgot,,, "we're in our early 20s, let's enjoy it, this is going to be some of the best years in our lives." i was sad when he left for Denver, but now sadder still.

Rex Babin you will be dearly missed. The Sac Bee just isnt the same without your humorous cartoons. The political humor you had was so right on.I really loved how you made fun of Arnold!!May your family know how much of a impact you had on the readers of the sac bee.Rest in peace and God bless you.

I followed his columns and drawings regularly. He was a class act and left this journalist/columnist world way too soon. Fond memories for the family to get through this. God bless.

Oh how I miss those insights into events that I might have missed while reading or listening to the news. And the ones I got immediately--you could hear me hoot from one end of the house to the other. Miss you, Rex

I did not always agree with Rex Babin's point of view in his political cartoons, but I did like the way he made me think/consider about a subject.

It was great to see Kathleen yesterday. I had not seen Rex in a few years and am sad about that. I have some great memories hanging out with Rex drinking beer talking politics and sports. I will never forget our conversations about the various dysfunctionalities of California politics and how those conversations turned up in cartoons. My deepest sympathies to Kathleen and Sebastian.

I will miss Rex's genius and creativity, and always appreciated his work a great deal. I want to offer my sincere condolences to the family on your tremendous loss and wish you hope and peace in upcoming years.
