Today, even though we feel a loss that causes us sadness, we are rejoicing because Jackie is at peace sitting at the throne of Jesus.
My heart is so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Jackie and Kay. When I met Ron Cabeal, I was anxious to meet his parents that lived right next door to him. Was I ever nervous when I found out the whole Cabeal clan lived on the same block. As our days turned into years of cherished memories, I am indebted to Jackie for the example that he led in his home. When Ron and I were married, my daughters and I thought Ron was too strict. I soon learned that Ron was following the example of fatherhood that his father, Jackie, had patterned for him while he was growing up. Without this example, he would not have become the father he is to our children. Sharon, Cathy, Gina and Douglas have been given a priceless gift from Jackie, their Grandpa; a gift that will continue on through the generations.
In Ephesians, it says, Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Jackie was a doer…he was following scripture. Jackie led by example and consequently, Ron followed in the footsteps of his father, Jackie.
Regardless of how long it had been between times I saw him, Jackie always had the warmest hug. You could feel his love.
I will always be eternally grateful for my father in law, Jackie, for living a life that left behind a path that only leads to eternal joy and contentment.
We are all blessed to have shared in his journey on this earth – until we meet again.
I will always raise my hands in praise to God for giving me my loving husband, Ron….thanks to his father, Jackie.
