James J. McCrohan, died peacefully June 13th at age 100. He was a musician, educator, and viticulturist. At San Jose State he studied music while playing lead sax at socials. He was oboist with the San Francisco Bohemian Club Orchestra and baritone in their Tunerville Barbershop Quartet. At home his musical productions delighted family and friends and he continued to direct music in his 90's. He retired from the Oakland Public Schools to grow cabernet grapes in St. Helena, eventually for Louis M. Martini Winery and Pine Ridge Vintners.

Jim was a kind gentleman who leaves his wife of 78 years, Elizabeth Edgar McCrohan, daughters Patricia Wells (Napa, CA), Kathleen (Kay) McMillan (Carmichael, CA), Jennifer Randolph (Ridgway, CO), seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Jim's family plans to celebrate his life sharing memories and, of course, a little music.
