URIZ, Polly Ann (Wall)
June 12, 1928 - Feb. 25, 2013
A native of High Point, North Carolina, and resident of Sacramento for over 60 years, Polly was known best for her loving spirit, endless generosity, and devotion to her family, friends and others. Always ready for running, golfing, bowling, yoga, music and dancing, Polly loved to, travel, cook, and socialize. But most of all she was defined by her love of her family. She is remembered by all for her total and absolute love of life, positive attitude, warmth, beauty, and infectious smile. Polly loved to laugh and lit up every room she entered. She nurtured and fed countless souls without condition. Her light and energy exists in all of us, and we forever cherish our true connection with her. As a member of many clubs and organizations, Polly was most proud of her dedicated service of over 30 years to the Hornet Bookstore at CSUS. Her memory will be cherished by all.
After a courageous and graceful battle with Alzheimers and LBD, Polly peacefully passed away, surrounded by love on February 25, 2013. Polly is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph M. Uriz; parents Dallas and Pearl Wall; brothers and sisters Grant, Joy DeBenedetti, Gay Shelton, Wade, and Jimmy; and nephews Marc and Bob. She is survived by her two daughters Paula and Renee; grandchildren Kelly, Tania, Jacob, and Ariana; great grandchildren Joie, Kelly, Jada, and Amelia; sisters Bobbie Payne and Mary Statham; brothers David and Kay; nieces and nephews Belinda, Georgia, Theresa, Davida, David, Shawn, Jayme, Angie, Lisa, Jill, Monica, Mary, Vicky, Brent, Blaine, Breck, Brannon, Brayton, Wendy, Cynthia, Angela, Brad, Kimi Sue and Dana.
The family celebrates Polly and thanks all of those who cared for her during her final struggle, particularly, her loving and giving daughter Renee and her partner Pat. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at W.F. Gormley & Sons, 2015 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95811. Family & friends are welcome for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. A celebration of life will follow the services in Granite Bay.

Dearest Polly,
You were my loving and generous friend; always reaching out to me and my children. The goodness in your heart was open to them and to me, but especially to Karen. You were there when she needed it most. You were always there when I needed you too; you would listen when I talked. We'd have a glass of wine. I would feel better knowing you would be there to listen and share. Both you and Joe always made me feel OK about myself; you were two of the best friends I ever had. May the two of you walk together among the angels forever.
Love,
Nita Kast

My dear "Aunt" Polly - you were a guardian angel to my mother and I during our most troubled years adjusting as a single family. You took me in unconditionally and loved me like I was your own. I honestly believe we would not have the same positive spirit today had you not been in our lives caring, loving, supporting and more importantly giving us strength to move forward in the early 60's. You will forever be in my heart as once my second mom. I love you. Karen (Stewart) Moultrup

Polly was such a dear, sweet soul. I had the wonderful opportunity to get to know her thru her granddaughter, Ariana. She was always so kind and beautiful even up to the very end. Rest in peace, dear sweet lady.

Aunt Polly had a joyful and enthusiastic spirit that spread to all those around her. She was a strong, positive and enduring woman that I always admired while growing up. I loved her smile and sense of humor and will carry that memory of her always.

Every single memory I have of Polly contains an infectious smile. And with that smile was a warm, open, and generous heart that reached out especially to her family, but also included us friends as we came in and out of her life. I will always be grateful and honored to be a part of the Uriz family. Polly as I look up your star is shinning brightly and still leading us. I cherish the memories and you will be sorely missed. We love you.
