Happened to think of Rex, and made my way to this page. I worked with Rex in the tiny art department of the Newport Beach Daily Pilot. My first real job, and he was as good a boss as he was a friend. We were all happy for him when he got his big break to intern with the Denver Post, but it was hard not to grieve, because things just weren't the same without him. We lost touch over the years, but I figured sooner or later, we'd bump into each other. And then I heard he had passed away. It's funny to feel the loss of someone you haven't talked with in 20-some years, but I do. And as we Orthodox say, memory eternal.
