DUNSHEE, Robert Lawrence
Robert 'Bob' Dunshee, a native of Sacramento and grandson of pioneers who arrived in California by covered wagon in the fall of 1848, was born on September 28, 1927 and passed away on October 13, 2013. Bob spent his early years in Sacramento before a brief move to Mountain View, CA where he graduated from Mountain View Union High school in 1945. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Pacific during the waning years of WWII.
With the exception of high school, Bob was a life long resident of Sacramento. He attended Sacramento City College and California State University, Sacramento, and worked in the aggregate / trucking industry. He was employed by A. Teichert & Son, Granite Construction, and R.C. Collet Inc. - all engaged in highway and road construction. He was President of Two Rivers Enterprises, Inc. (Two Rivers Trucking) an aggregate truck hauling company which he founded in 1981 until his retirement.
Bob was an outstanding skier, and skied the Donner, Squaw, Tahoe and Nevada slopes. He was a member of the rescue team that skied food and supplies into Central Pacific train passengers stranded on Donner Summit in 20 foot snow drifts during the blizzard of 1952. He was also an avid fisherman and regaled friends and family with his fishing adventures.
As an active member in the community, Bob was known to freely express his opinions at homeowners' association meetings. He regularly walked 2 to 3 miles along the American River trail in the early morning and advocated for the restoration of native plants and animals.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Raymond L. Dunshee and Lola Hannah (Brown) Dunshee, and sister, Ramona Fussell. He is survived by his loving daughter, Erin Dunshee Stover, four grandchildren: Dustin Cowan, Wolfgang, Violet & Willow Stover; nephew, Peter R. Schultz (Kathy) and their children, Meredith Ritner & Karyn Schultz; niece, Susan Schultz-Ambrose and her son, Paul Bernreuther (Trish); and two grand nieces and two grand nephews.
Neighbors, friends & family are invited to his home in Carmichael for a remembrance on Saturday, October 26, from 2 to 4 PM. For additional details please email [email protected]. The family requests that a contribution in Bob's name be made to the American River Parkway Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Still think about you Bob.
