Chaplain Winterton always stood as an example of kindness to Veterans, to me and to my family. He carried a spirit of peace with him wherever he went, and Bonnie was always at his side. She is his perfect companion.
I so appreciated his care when my Mom, Vona Houtz, was taken ill at a VFW National Convention in San Antonio, TX. Boyd made arrangements to come to the hospital to see her and let her know that she was loved. So like him.
Your family has been a blessing to all around you, whether it was in your ward, on Temple Square, or with the VA Medical Center, and various Veterans Orgainizations. We will miss your prayers on our behalf.

We were sorry to hear of Boyd's passing. He was a great friend and a great example to us of a Christlike person. We never heard a negative word from him, and he always had a smile. He was a "lifter," one who lifted those around him. We are serving a mission in Ukraine right now, or we would have been at the funeral to support his wonderful family. We love you, Bonnie!

I am deeply saddened by Boyd's passing. After an auto accident in 1999, Boyd was at my bedside in intensive care when I awoke. I had the honor and privilege to work with Boyd and Bonnie in the Utah and Military Affairs Committee and Reserve Officers Association and other organizations. Boyd was unselfish and committed in his service to veterans. We have lost a great servant.

I worked at the VA Medical Center for 25 years. During this time, I knew Chaplain Winterton and interacted with him many times, as veterans would request his presence as they were treated there. He was the most gracious, caring and concerned individual as to both the mental and physical health of the many veterans who he helped make it through their difficulties. God bless this wonderful man and many thoughts are with him and your family.
