Not sure what to say?

I work at the grocery store Colleen used to shop at. I only work part time but I kept noticing that I had not seen Colleen for a little while. I finally remembered to ask a co-worker about Colleen and was told she had passed away. So yes, Colleen and her feisty manner is missed. She was the highlight of my Friday's when she would come in. Everyone loved her at the store and everyone took time out to give her a hug. Lovely, lovely lady. I am sad and miss her.

My dear Aunt Colleen talked the talk of being "meaner than hell", but never walked the walk. She was ALWAYS there for me and, I am sure, many others. She took me in as a wounded child, a rebellious teen, a disillusioned new wife and mother, and a shattered parent burying a child. She taught me how to iron, how to make sauerkraut, how to cook with beer, and how to SURVIVE. I remember Aunt Colleen and my dear Uncle Ira dancing on Saturday nights. All dressed up and ready to go out, but taking the time to show us how it was done and taking a spin around the kitchen with Caryl and Mary and me. They were magic in each others' arms and that's how I will always remember her.

I remember sitting at Aunt Colleen's kitchen table, I was too small for my feet to touch the floor. She made hotcakes and bacon for me since I was up earlier than the others and we talked and talked. I remember this as clear as if it were that day, some 50+ years ago.

In sorry for the loss of a wonderful woman.
I have many fond memories of her and I'll always remember what a great person she was inside and out.
As a kid, I'd go visit her with my mom and grandma and have the best time at her house.
She always had something to teach me about canning and cooking and I still think back to those days and wish I had then to do over again.
I'll forever be grateful for the things I learned from her and I'll forever miss her.
My condolences to her remaining family members.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Colleen. I was her back door neighbor for many years. She always looked out me as a child and then when I became the homeowner and had my own kids she looked out for them also. Many memories. I'm sorry for your loss. Colleen had her own way of doing things, but a heart of gold.

Jackman Family - so sorry to hear of the loss of "Jo". She has been a family friend to my Mom, Ida Lewis for as long as I can remember. May you have peace in knowing that she is no longer in pain. Linda Darcy

We have known Coleen and Ira since we both built new homes in our subdivision in 1968. They were real people, no fads nor fancies, just down to earth (tell it like it is) kind of folks. In her later years she would come around on her scooter and visit, we always looked forward to chatting with her. A real lady, she leaves a legacy that we should all work toward emulating.

I will miss everything about my grandma. I am a very luck woman to have had her for so long. The lessons learned, the fun we had. I am fortunate that I get to pass that down to my own girls. You will be missed grandma , but we know you are up with grandpa watching over us all.

Loved Jo she will always be known as the "Purple Potato Lady and Pickle Lady" to my kids. I always will remember when I asked her how she was doing and she would respond "Meaner than Hell" and that is what Jo was known by even though she had the kindest heart. She will always be a dear friend to us and known as family. She will be greatly missed here on earth. Heaven gained a wonderful Angel this week.
