I had a lit candle but is gone March 110,2013 Linda and Lacey Ludwig
Heaven done called another blues-stringer back home.
And a grossly underrated one at that. RIP, Alvin Lee.
As a fan of 10 Years After/Alvin Lee for over 40 years, I am deeply saddened by the loss of the man and his great talent. May his family and friends find some happiness in knowing that he is remembered throughout the work. Rest in Peace Alvin, we miss you.
In the late 70's I had the privilege of producing a number of ten years after shows at the international amphitheater
In Chicago a real venue of the 70's. Alvin was one of the most genuine good guys during a time when the British Invasion of the us was full of not the nicest kind of people
Alvin was one of the genuine best!! I'll miss his presence on this planet. R.I.P my friend
I was so saddened when I heard the news, taken far toooo soon, I'd like to send my condolences and sympathy to his family and friends, I do not know if he left behind a wife, or children, but I'm sure there were, such a good hearted, fun loving personally, I'd imagine he had shared his life with someone very special, and
children, I can hope there fathers musical talent was carried on, please take the time to grieve, we all do at our own pace. Best wishes to all, I'm very sorry. Mary Pierson, Phoenix, Az
My bnad Truck was the opening act for Alvin and the band on May 31, 1978 at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX. What a show he put on, and what a night we all had. Ever since I heard him on Woodstock album, I was always a fan. We have lost a legend for sure. RIP brother.
first saw tya in boston on the rock and roll music to the world tour. it was at the boston music hall and to this day it ranks as one of the finest shows i ever saw. the band was probably at the height of their career and alvin blew everyone away. he will be sorely missed.
I first heard Alvin Lee on the TYA Space in Time album. Everything then changed. He was one of the very best.
Good too have been a friend of yours when we were at junior & senior schools.Knew you were something special then.Catch yer later mate.
Thank you Alvin you brought so much richness to my inner being and so much joy to my heart. How you could play so fast to those slow blues was so delicious!! Thank you is all I can say
When I was 14 I went to Hollywood to se see Woodstock at the cinema dome. The happening was relevant and I appreciated the significance of it. But nothing moved me and made my foot start tapping like ten years after with that phenomenal rendition of Going home. He will forever live in my soul as long as I can hear and replay his music. The undead album is in my mind one of the great masterpieces of the time.
Eternal Flame shines forever.
Late but still feeling Both Losses that day.
Lost my mom that day too. Blows my
mind they died same day. John Hembrow
gonna send you something in mail
hope your address is still the same. Alvin really inspired me & still does.
May the god of comfort be a source of strength for your family at this difficult time. 2Corn 1:3, 4. Deepest Sympathy, Sue, Concord, NC
Still haven't quite come to terms with the loss of my all time favorite guitarist/singer/songwriter. The musical world is infinitely smaller with his passing.
The roots of Ten Years After are burried 50,000 miles beneath my brain! While I'm not old enough to have seen them in their glory days, as a student of guitar limits, Alvin Lee was simply the best bar none!
Take note all you youngsters, real guitar slaying is with the frets not on the pick!
ALVIN, YOU DID CHANGE THE WORLD & YOU STARTED IN WOODSTOCK. A LOYAL FAN.
The first time I saw Alvin and TYA was in Chicago in 1972 at the Arie Crown Theater on the "Rock and Roll Music to the World" tour. It was the greatest concert I ever saw. They played two shows in one night. I was at the second show.
Alvin blew us all away.
When it comes to rock and roll Alvin delivered the product.
God bless you Alvin. I hope to see you again.
Another rock great dies.Never missed a TYA concert when they were in town in the 1970,s and loved the music as he kept rockin through the decades.Great guitarist he will be missed.
Alvin's the only one who could kick out the baddest "Goin' Home" that brought even the most insensible to their feet! He will be truly missed.
I had the honor of seeing Alvin 4 times... first was the Aragon in about 1980... of all places 'the Cubby Bear'.... about 1994/95. Back to back shows at House of Blues 1999.... all those shows are tops on my list. For some people it was Hendrix, others it was Page or Eddie.... for me it is Alvin by FAR. Keep on rockin my old friend.
I saw TYA in the at the Filmore east in NYC just months before Woodstock, own all of their Albums, and got a tremendous kick out seeing Alvin & Co. in 1998 at the original Woodstock site (Masgurs' Farm) for Woodstock Revival Concert. Loved Alvin Lee, loved Ten Years After. In 1998, my now 30 year old son, loved seeing him too and enjoyed being in the Mosh pit during their gig on stage. Said it was "the best day of his life"...May Godd Bless You Alvin Lee...RIP. Unfortunately, now perhaps the rock and roll world will realize what a tremendous Talent Alvin was. He should receive the full accolades his deserves, even if it is Posthumously.
rip alvin the master. alway remenber fillmore east shows in 1970

Alvin's music played a key role in my youth. He was my favorite guitar player. I continued to buy his CDs and really enjoyed how his music and guitar style matured as he got older. I was very shocked and saddened when I learned of his untimely death. He seemed to have alot more music left in his tank. I want to express my condolences to his family and close friends and to tell you how much his music meant to me. RIP Alvin. Your music lives on.
Remembering Ten Years After as one of the influential bands in my youth. Our condolences to Alvin's frinds and family - but know that his music has a permanent influence and gift to posterity. He will live on in our hearts.
Alvin was an awesome guitar player and Who could ever forget that Woodstock performance and walking off the staqge with a whole watermelon slung on his shoulder. It is comforting to know that Jesus, the Ruler of God's Kingdom, is called the “Prince of Peace,” and he will ensure that “to peace there will be no end.”—Isaiah 9:6, 7.

I just bought Alvin's latest CD and it was wonderful. I heard Ten Years After on FM radio in the seventies and went right out a bought my first guitar. I can't express how sad the news of his passing was to me. He was my music hero. Goodbye Alvin.
I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please find peace and comfort in Psalms 65:2.
Never had the chance to see Alvin play live. My hopes to do so are gone now. However Alvin holds a very special place in my heart and will live on there forever. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Saw him at the Miami Jai alai in the early '70s. What a talent ! Had all his early album too. R.I.P. Alvin.

Shine on Alvin & keep heaven rocking as you did on earth. The world will keep spinning--just a little slower without you.
To the family of Mr.Lee,
Jesus compared death to sleep. Why? because he knew it was as simple as calling one from sleep. However,he knew losing one caused pained. Thus, he himself wept. John10:31,33,34,38-43
Please be comforted by a future hope of a ressurection.
your a legend... bless you heart... RIP
This is the saddest news I have heard in a while. I saw Ten Years After 5 times in the '70s. As far as I am concerned, Alvin Lee is the greatest guitarist that ever played. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, and all his fans across the world. God Bless and Godspeed...
I only got to see Mr. Lee perform live one time at the Spectrum in Philadelphia PA back in the early 70's. I can remember it like it was yesterday. He was one of the greatest guitarists I have ever seen. May he RIP.
This is sad news..I always enjoyed
the music of Alvin Lee. Great guitarist
and musical artist. Got to see him perform years ago at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin,TX .
Got his album, "Zoom" just a while back...All great,..God rest his soul.
To the Lee Family,Alvin was a great musician and although I never met him,I seemed to identify with him,I will always remember him. God Bless

Another one of our great guitarists gone

Chuck Johnson, El Segundo CA
I saw 10 Years After in concert in Chicago in the 70's with some Air Force buddies of mine. I will never forget the talent that Alvin possessed. Another "6 string down". RIP Alvin

The world loses another of it's rock / blues musician. Loved his music, yet it remains in our hearts and memories! He did change the world and left us with the bluest blues!
Godspeed and safe passage to you; peace and understanding for your family. "Though I never met him, I knew him just the same. He was a friend of mine". A friend of us all through his incredible music. Fastest of the fast, rememember Choo Choo Mama from TYA Recorded Live. Rock on Alvin!!
My inspiration all those years ago to grab a guitar and - "Rock On." Thank you!
I grew up with 10 Years After and I loved his style of rock and roll . I saw him several times live including Woodstock in Aug. 1969 . He will be missed ,,, May god bless you Alvin as you blessed the music world .
I haven't felt such a sense of loss since the passing of Lennon and Harrison. A true virtuoso in every sense of the word. He will be sorely missed.
Oh, how I wished you'd come to the US and do another tour! I had met Alvin in Tampa back in the early 70s and was surprised how docile and quiet spoken he could be. After slamming strings at the speed of light, he had a right to be exhausted. Alvin never got the real appreciation from a lot of guitar fans as the radio stations wanted the more comercialized renderings. I would urge any upcoming talent to listen to Cricklewood Green, or the Live album. You'll hear licks in these that never will be found elsewhere. Thanks for the years of great music Alvin. God bless your family!
Hes "Goin Home" Woodstock style.
Alvin, you left us too early. I worship your song on the Isle of Wight album "I can't keep from crying...".....and there are a lot of fans that feel like "crying" with your early departure. I am a HUGE fan of yours since age 12 in the year 1970.
godspeed alvin. priviledged to have shaken your hand in atl in the 70's. you were the best i ever heard! i will miss you, but your music will live forever! prayer's and blessings to your family.
God bless you brother. Loved to watch you rock. You will be missed.
Thank you for all you created.
God knows you gave "Rock and Roll music to the world." By far my favorite guitarist of all time. Rest in peace.
I have had the bluest blues since I heard about Alvin's passing. We must keep rocking to the music he left us, because the fastest guitar in the west will always be the best. Thank you Alvin!
With all the great musicians that I've studied, Alvin Lee was my latest intrigue and on my bucket list to see. May you shine on Alvin Lee ??
ID LOVE TO CHANGE THE WORLD . ALVIN LEE ENOUGH SAID THANKS .
Life is funny ,skys are sunny, bee's make honey, who need's money,I'D love to change the World!!!
I'm truly sorry to hear of his passing, and though I never met Alvin personally he had quite an effect on my musical pursuits. His legendary appearance at Woodstock will live far beyond this age...so now, ironically, he is finally "Home"...!
One of the best, ever....
May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time in your life. We all yearn for better conditions. It's refreshing to know that God's word speaks of a time when all sorrows will be gone and that mankind will live in beautiful surroundings with nothing to fear.- Isaiah 65:17,21-24 wlll shed lite on this.
My all time favorite . You are missed

Remained a fan of this guy since I first saw young Alvin (16/17) in his band 'The Jaybirds' in the early 60s here in England. This band had a weekly slot at a pub called 'The Cocked Hat' in Aspley, Nottingham. You had to be in the concert room of this pub by 7-00pm or you would lose out - it would be full! Everyone came to hear original R&B played at its very best!
Maybe he'll play for us again in the new system of things?

TO FAMILY, FRIENDS & FANS
WE ARE ALL SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE GREAT ALVIN LEE. HE BROUGHT A LOT OF GOOD MUSIC INTO OUR LIVES THAT WE WILL NEVER FORGET. SUCH A LOSS TO THE MUSIC WORLD.
Your personal loss is the world's loss. "I Can't Keep From Cryin'" is the sentiment of all his fans. Anyone who has ever listened to this work knows that Alvin IS THE BEST bar none. Take comfort that Heaven got a whole lot louder.
Saddened to hear this news. I bought Undead when I was in high school and was fortunate to see the performance at Woodstock which still gives me gooseflesh when I think of it all these years later. My condolences to the family and friends of this remarkable artist.

RIP Alvin. Time to join a new band. Another Six Strings Down.
How fast time goes. Alvin I saw you and the band when I was 15 years old. That was many years ago. Always loved Ten Years After. RIP
Here was one of the greats. He performed some masterpiece stuff with even the great George Harrison, and certainly had natural talent combined with years of practice and effort.
How apropos that his last album was still on the road to freedom. Alvin is free at last!
Ten Years After was my favorite group. My 1st concert ever was them at the Cow Palace in San Francisco about 1974. I was 13!
Had many of their albums, learned to play drums to their music & followed Alvins solo career. Had many of those albums too including Lee a/ Mylon Le'Fevre. Wish I still had them.
I loved Alvin Lee, so sorry, R.I.P.
Another iconic music legend leaves us, so sad.
Gary Cooper from California
I always loved "Alvin Lee" and "Ten Years After" The songs "I'd Love to Change the World", "Hard Monkeys", and "Here They Come" are some of my favorite song of all time, and helped make the world a better place for this then teenager in 1971...
Dearest Heart, You rocked a generation of youth who knew super soul singing and playing when we had the good fortune of being in the midst of It. You are such a One! My Heart goes out to your Loved Ones.and I look forward to meeting you on the other side. Thank YOU!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
