Dear Van Franks,

I know you all from many years beginning with Gwen and Leslie at the University of Utah, Kevin at UDOT, Roger through Salt Lake City community service, and all through encounters around town over the years. Thanks Sheila for your hospitality during my visits and chats with Roger at your architect inspired home. I think often of Roger's ideas and times we all spent together. He will always be a personality remembered. Sincerely with sadness,

Dear Sheila: Today I received the saddest E-mail from Yoshiko. I sincerely express my grief and regret over the passing away of Roger. The picture of a brilliant double rainbow was so touching as if Roger climbed up to the Heaven, being given send-off by his loving family. His picture reminded me when I visited your home in 1976. He took me with Alison to Rockport. I still remember Roger's bursting out laughing when we saw Alison's yacht turned over into the lake. I pray from the bottom of my heart that he is now sleeping peacefully amd lookng down to his Family's and people in this world in peace. Ane please tell m love to Alison. Tak Sawaki

Sheila, Alison, Megan and family,
I've been so sad about Roger's passing.
I was afraid that he might be sick , but I didn't think he was that grave for such a long time. I should have chatted and spent more time with him when I saw him last in 2008.
Sheila & Roger, thank you very much for coming to SLC Airport many times to pick up my daughters and me when we arrived from Japan.
As written in his obituary I spent a wonderful, splendid year in Utah as a Rotary exchange student knowing wonderful,warm-hearted people like Roger and you.
I'm sure many members of your family had the same feelings in other countries as Rotary exchange students.
Tomorrow is Father's Day and the celebrations are getting popular also in Japan.
Roger was my father figure and American hero as well as Mr. Bob Norman, my American host father in Moab, Utah who passed away also at the age of 89 last July.
We, Japanese, believe in reincarnation and I'm sure I'll see Roger again and enjoy sharing more things with him in our next world.
I can never thank Roger and you enough for all you have done for my daughters and me. Eri, my youngest daughter aged 21, whose birthday is May 15, the same date of Roger's passing, is going to study in the U.S. for a year starting next January. I'm sure our dreams and wishes will be passed on and carried on by our next generations in this world.
I can't help but think the two events are related like the rainbows were related to him.
Missing Mr. Roger vanFrank and with condolences to all of you,
