I wore Uncle Danny's "professor" tweed sportscoat this week, it's a perfect fit. He's in Paradise, I hope those he left behind are finding joy in life without him here.
Dear Rajia: Thinking of you and your family at this sad time. Deepest sympathy.
I think of Danny every day, and want to say thank you to ALL who posted, I've gotten to know my brother on a different level. To me he was just my sweet, fun, always up for doing things with his crazy sisters! So hewas so much more than a professional -
PAR EXCELLENT - but a WONDERFUL BROTHER WHO
WAS LOVED SO MUCH. I MISS HIM AND want to call him everyday. He was so kind to EVERYONE, NEVER HAD AN
ENEMY I HIS LIFE. I love Rajia and the boys so much, I pray for them as they are in terrible pain missing their loving DA NY.
May God give your family the peace, comfort, and strength needed for the days, months, and years ahead. Danny will be missed. May God bless you all.
It was always a treat to get an update on you and Danny at meetings. What a wonderful and interesting marriage! I am so sorry for your loss and wish you comfort in good memories.
May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.
In my bookselling days I had many opportunities to talk to Danny while he ran the Harrassowitz operation in Mobile. Later I called on him in his role as a librarian. In all our meetings, personal and professional, I was always struck by Danny's genteel spirit and thoughtfulness. He was and is admired by many and came by that admiration quite honestly. His passing is sad news to many of us who knew him and called him a colleague.
Heartfelt condolences to you, Rajia.
I still can't believe Danny is gone. I remember so vividly working with him at the library, especially when we all were working so hard as a team to get information out of Georgetown's LIS system and into Innovative. He was a wonderful leader - soft spoken and kind and confident we could do this on time. We will miss him, Rajia. His early death reminds us all that life is so short and we should hold and love those who are dear to us every day. May God bless you and help you through this time of grief.
It breaks our hearts to lose Danny, the perfect Southern gentleman, wise advisor, clever wit, resourceful librarian, and precious friend who made such a powerful, positive difference in the lives of so very many, in countless ways. Sending strength, love and prayers to Rajia and family for comforting peace at this tragic time.
Dear Rajia, I just learned of Danny's passing and I am very saddened by the news.I only wished that I had known earlier so that I could have attended the services. My deepest sympathy to you and your sons. May God rest his soul. Peter Saleh and Family
Thinking of you and wishing you peace at this difficult time. Doris Miller
The visitation and funeral mass were beautiful, befitting Danny, a beautiful man. The music was wonderful, which caused me to think about the symphony concerts the five of us attended together and we usually completed the evening by going to a nearby restaurant for snacks and critique the music, musicians, composers, conductor and anything else that came to mind. I will miss Danny in so many ways.
With love, Delores.
Rajia, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of you and Danny while I was at UTHSC. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Rajia, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always be grateful for the kindness and mentoring you all provided me as I was entering medical librarianship at Methodist Hospital library, "across the street." You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Rajia & Danny's entire family: Words seem so inadequate at such a time, but I offer my condolences and remembrances: Like so many others, I knew Danny through library-related entities, such as NASIG and also during the time he was with Harrassowitz. He was always willing to help or to find THE person who could help -- he was all about service, cheerfully and expertly rendered. He contributed much while he was in the world, not the least his sense of humor and belief in humanity. Danny was a reflection of all that was good in the world.
I was so sorry to read of Danny's passing. As children we played together on Churchill Road in North Charleston. My prayers and sympathy to Danny's entire family.

Rajia, despite of the distance, we will stay close to you and share your sorrow.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Danny was a great guy, and someone from whom I learned a great deal about professionalism and fairness; in these areas he was a terrific role model. His professionalism, though, was tempered by a quiet sense of humor, a combination I found admirable, and consciously emulated in my own work. I respected him enormously, and will miss him.
Danny was one-of-a-kind hero to the library community! Danny set a high standard of excellence for us to follow. He was a wonderful leader in the Texas Library Association and an incredible mentor. What a privilege it was to have been touched and enriched by his life, values, and talent. Please accept our deepest sympathy and our appreciation for his many contributions.
What an unexpected loss! Rajia, you and your family will be in my thoughts over the difficult days ahead.
Danny was a hero to the library community! Always creative, resourceful, and visionary, Danny set a high standard for us to follow. My fondest recollection of viewing art in the Prada in Madrid was hearing Danny yell my name at the chance encounter! Danny was a wonderful TLA leader and an incredible mentor to so many. What a privilege it was to have been enriched by his life, values, and talent. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
Rajia and family, Danny was such a kind and giving man. Enjoyed our visit in Boston together. I still owe him a glass of wine. You are in my prayers.
Rajia and family, my thoughts are with you and I am sorry for your sudden loss. I will always remember Danny's infectious laugh, marvelous sense of intellectual curiosity and generosity. As I sit here, I can view the book on knowledge conceptualization he gave me to goad me on when I was at a low-point in my dissertation. His acts of kindness, large and small, will live on.
Rajia, Andrew, & Patrick - Carl and I were so sorry to hear of Danny's passing. He was such a great guy and you and Danny were always so wonderful to our son, Colin. I know that he is in Heaven with Colin and they are having a great time. It truly breaks our heart when someone dies, but we know that they are in a much better place. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Danny, You are now where Jesus promised. We were so glad that we worked with the Boy Scouts, Keeping track of campouts and progress for the scouts. You are missed! Thanks!
Rajia, Danny was 11 months older than me. I lost my husband from a long illness 14 months ago and I know how hard that has been but to lose your husband unexpectedly is devastating. My heart goes out to you and your family. The pictures you shared showed his wonderful spirit. God bless and keep you over this next period of time as the numbness you feel now is a blessing. Please take time to grieve as we work in a service industry that makes it easy to hide our feelings as we help others so give yourself time. Time and the love of family helps one through this transition time.
